Extended Warranty
Hey, anyone here bought extended warranty for their car?
1) How much should I be paying and is it negotiable?
2) Would a MB extended warranty be better or a third party?
3) Do I need to get the extended warranty when I get the car or anytime after?
I am planning on the purchase (not lease) and keeping the car for a long time.

My understanding is that on an AMG you have up to 10 months after purchase to buy the extended warrantee.
You have to be very careful what State you buy it in!!! I learned the hard way that Mass. is $400 more than FL.
Also, in Fl. any unused portion at sale of car is rebatable (controlled by the state insurance commission), in Mass. it is not.
I had a big battle with Mercedes on this and was totally ripped off.
DO NOT TRUST YOUR LOCAL SALES REP -- he only knows his local states rules.
It is all in the fine print!!!

I would suggest that you buy the extended warranty at the time you purchase your car (it will be much easier to negotiate) whether you plan on keeping or selling your car before the basic warranty runs out. It's a smart move. I paid $2,300 for the additional 2 years, they started off at around $3,500 +-.. Whatever portion of the extended warranty that you do not use, MB will give you a refund for. Like Tauno, says it varies from state to state, so be sure to read the fine print.
