Engine light

A week ago I put 1/4 tank of regular (87 Octane) gas in the car, now it is 3/4 premium and 1/4 regular.

Could this be the cause?

Yes, most likely it's the cause! It should go away when you burn this gas and put 100% premium. Never put regular gas in your car!

yeah dude what are you thinking?
Another thing that may have caused it is if you leave the gas cap off or accidentally don't close it firmly enough. But that'll go away in a couple of days. Why not take it in. And don't tell them you put bad gas in there.

why not go and get that horrible petrol drained out of your tank ... they should charge you no more than 250$ ... and theyll diagnose your engine

as for me i always fill with 95Ron ... which is the recommended for the engine

I took it in but did tell the service tech what I did. Said it is most likely telling me that the knock sensors are kicking in and detuning the engine to accomodate.

I went out and filled the tank with 94, hopefully it'll dissappear as I burn through.

I know, I know, it was a no-no but it was either that or push my car home that day!

I thought most modern cars were equipped to detune and run on lower octane without messing things up?

absolutely! the knock control on the cls55 can run from RON92 to RON98... but anything below that and it goes ... too many impurities in anything under RON92
