CLS AMG comparisons...
decision between an CLS/E63, SL55 or M6. Does anyone have experience
with them, or have owned all thee? I've driven the M6, but the
transmission was so annoying and I don't know if I could tolerate it
in NYC traffic. Does it get easier once you drive it more? How about
an Aston or a 997? I would love an Aston DB7; it's pretty cheap, but
I don't know if it would attract the wrong attention since I would
park on the street a lot.... And I don't know if my parents would pay
for that even though it's the same price as an SL55.
Thanks.
I drove a 1985 Honda Prelude (at the time 11 years old) all thru college and it was missing most of the passenger door panel due to a crash from a previous owner. LOL, good for you bro, that's awesome.
If I had the choice in college (ppfff) I would go with the SL55. Unless you think you're gonna have a bunch of girls in your car all the time in which case I would go back to the CLS63.
As for the BMW, you either like those cars or you don't. They're all amazing cars. BTW, the transmission on the BMW does not get any better as time goes by. SEVEN SPEED RULES!!!

Then you can get the Aston Martin.
However, I would guess that the co-eds are going to be chasing after you by the car load. Perhaps you will need the seating capacity of the ML63 or R63?
Rock on, young man.

Goodluck on your decision

My dad always made me drive the community car, the 1993 Nissan Sentra. Boy I have a come a long way but it puts thing in perspective and allows me to see the path I have developed. I never would have dreamed of having a 90k car in college, let alone a 40k one.

Parking garages are another disaster.Unless you own your own spot because you live in the building&know the people whp park next to you on a daily basis, your car will be dinged&dented in no time.
Sh**t,I wont even drive my M-B's to Manhattan on the wknds for fear of destruction,& I've lived here all my life..
Not too mention the potholes....
That being said, out of the cars you've mentioned,I've driven/owned evry one except the Aston.Cant go wrong with any of em....Just not as a daily driver in NYC.

I don't mean to lecture, but I hope to God you are good to your folks, I hope you make them proud...because they are damn nice to your...don't get me wrong, I wouldn't refuse ANY of those cars if my folks offered them to me when I was in school...but I agree with 'oldgixxer' especially if you park it on the street. Also, you've got it right about the M6 and the SMG...not great in traffic...there are better choices. Congrats and good luck in school...keep you eyes on the target, not on the tail(if you catch my drift).
