Please explain "chipping" to me
1 - overall, what is chipping?
2 - what improvements do you get?
3 - about how much does it cost?
4 - what's the process? I live in South Florida - I imagine they need your car to do it? Is there any where in S. Florida to have this done?
5 - what does it do to gas mileage?
6 - does it void your warranty? Would the dealership even know?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Most importantly, in a car with a turbo or supercharger, it tells the car when to open the wastegate and stop boosting pressure on the turbo/supercharger.
If you increase this pressure level you get more torque and horsepower at the expense of possibly shortening the life of your turbo/supercharger due to heat buildup.
Not much point chipping normally aspirated cars other than equipping them to avail of high octane gas.
