RANT* our CLS was crashed*

Unreal....
Upon inspecting the car prior to delivery I noticed a small crack on one of the ribs on the front grill where the big MB star is located. The dealer said they would pay for half of the replacement grill as they were unable to go any lower on the price.I moand&reluctantly agreed......

Due to our busy schedule,we hadnt had a chance to drive the car at nite,so when I turned them on&saw the driver side xenon pointing to the sky I was like WTF?

Called&made an appt w/service to fix/replace it.I then noticed the headlight washer on that side also was not functioning properly.....

Dealer replaced the light&said the housing "was brittle&thats why the mounting tab broke off"....Umm yeah OK....

The grill was shipped to my house&upon installation I noticed a paint booger on the edge of the hood, like it was repainted&applied to heavy causing it to run.Now I pissed.I went over the front end like a madman&noticed a few things out of alignment&concluded the car was in an accident/had bodywork done.

Called the salesmen(who is a friend)and told him the story. He was shocked as the former owner was a good, longtime customer that had a very good rapport with the dealership.

More details involved but skipping ahead I then told them I dont want this car&could not understand how it was a C.P.O & nobody noticed this.Carfax was clean but I know the owner paid out of pocket to get it fixed to avoid detection&loss of value upon selling the car.

Found out the previous owner "hit a small animal" and failed to tell the dealer when he traded it in....The small animal was a deer.

They offered to accept the CLS back on trade for the same amount we paid.
Im furious. My wife is furious&upset cause she loves this car. They offered to fix it 100% but I refused as I no longer want it&would have never purchased a damaged car.

Now I dont know what AMG were going to get to replace the CLS....

Sorry for this post, but I needed to vent, and figured other CLS owners would feel my pain

That sucks dude, sorry to hear it, is something wrong with the space bar on your keyboard too?
Anyway, I would ask for my money back on the car and nothing short of it. Likely they won't make you a deal on a trade that you'll like. Get your money back and go buy another one for even less money. If they don't give you that, leave politely and call an attorney (don't forget to sue for attorney fees )

But here is the question, how did you find out they had hit a dear?

Sorry about that...

But look at it from the bright side.... you found it not long after you've accepted the car. Can you imagine the hell you'd have to go through if you found it couple weeks after taking delivery? The dealer may have completely denied any responsibility, let along taking your car back.

You'll find another CLS... don't worry.

Sorry to hear about that old gixxer.. I guess that is the same type thing i was afraid of when i bought my cls 500 used.. carfax was clear and i think the only reason why i may have felt more comfortable is because my car was a corporate lease through MB.. it never was personally owned.. I'm sorry to hear about it but at least the dealership is responding as they should.. How many upgrades had you put into it?

change subject alittle.. What year 1000 do you own? I have the red and black 06' 8k miles and i'm still loving it..

Good Luck bro !!! It has to sooth you and the wife that they will take the car back 100% of what you paid... Just be happy you caught it and the dealership is providing excellent customer service in this matter.

I am not sure if the dealer was unaware of the problem. Now a days, some dealers are buying crashed cars that have never been reported. They fix it and sell it and make a larger profit.

Yeah, when I was looking for a car for my girlfriend I came across a car that was too good to be true. Sitting right at my local MB lot. Carfax was clean as can be, but they gave me it for a day to drive and see how she liked it. Brought it to my Uncles where he put it up on a lift and car was clearly in a whole lot of trouble at sometime. It is too bad you cant really trust anyone anymore. Things will work out better for you in the long run I hope.

Man that is horrible but at least the dealership is nice to take it back and give you your money in full for something else. Enjoy the 63 if you get one.

That's so wierd, that they missed that, like 6 years ago my dad was trading in his E320 and had a couple of dents and key marks and ****, so he touched it up and you couldn't even tell, but when they did the inspection(it was a lease) they pointed out every area that had been fixed/retouched, my dad was in shock, so I am truly amazed that they could have messed up that bad, when it's obvious the car was worked on but at least they are giving you back your money, but you should be making sure that they report this to carfax so that some other guy doesn't get screwed with a damged car

Your right they could get beat however.. if a car is a lease it serves no purpose for the leaser to pay under the table someone to repair a damaged car when they dont own it anyway.. who cares at that point it's a lease you turn it in at the end of your agreement and start over, no hassle with trade in value and what/not...

I had my car checked at a certified bodyshop and had a mechanic look under the hood so as i said i'm good with what i bought but a private person is more likely to try to trick someone than a corporate lease.. I'm sure any problems with car accidents or not are easily written off come tax time so no sense in being undercover in that arena.

Bottom line if the car is used.. one should always use due diligence and getting it checked out prior to making a purchase no matter where it's from is in order every time.

06 CLS55 w/ P030, 05 Jag S Type R, 05 TBird-68 Dodge Charger R/T-440 w/4speed I'm original owner
Private LA Upscale Hi End Used Car Lot....

I can relate to your experience.

I fell in love with a pre owned CLS 55 at a private upscale hi end used car dealer in the LA area. It was a breath taken. The dealer represented upgrades of Renntech (575HP), wheels and even painted brake calipers.

After all the assurances from the used car dealer including him personally knowing the car owner and even dropped his well known name to me, I was truely impressed and thinking I just one lucky guy to stumble into this great opportunity.

Needless to say, I found myself soon dealing with a team of "Snake Oil" liars that was doing a number on me. The original deal that we agreed on, suddenly increased overnight and now included them demanding a trade in on two of my prize cars that I never mentioned.

I walked away broken hearted. I NEVER DO BUSINESS WHEN THERE IS NO CONFIDENCE OR TRUST.

Fast forward, I stopped by that private upscale hi end used car dealer and rubbed his face into my new 06 CLS 55 fully load with 030 package for a few dollars more than he wanted for bag of S***. One of the saleman said to me on the side " good thing you did'nt buy it due to the fact that the supercharger blew up on the new owner and MB delcine to cover it and that Renntech said it was not their upgrade. BUYER BEWARE......

JUST MOVE ONTO THE NEXT DEAL.......

I've always bought new cars, except for my current CLS but these horror stories are killing my buzz.

I guess money's only something you need if you don't have any. Oh, and if my car blows up (likely from me messing with the electronics), I'll be sure to post pics. At least that way, we'll all get a good laugh out of it.
