CLS63 vs Viper

Raced a Viper... not a great race...but here are the details: He was behind me at a light...turned green...I rolled forward to about 5 mph and then hit it...from there to about 100 mph he stayed with me but never gained on me at all...I'm guessing the cars performance are about the same or so this little race showed. We both gave the thumbs-up and went about our ways...Got to love this 4-door coupe that can seriously compete with the sports cars of today

What year Viper? The SRT 10 is 510 HP and even more torque + 1000lbs lighter. He should have walked you.

Squirrely. I had a 99 and could not keep the rear wheels from breaking loose. Handling..... Whew.....!!!!! Sphincter tone was high every time I jumped on it.

Chances are the outcome was driver-dependent.

By all means the Viper should win, unless its like a '93 or he flubbed it when he mashed the gas.

Man, I don't want to sound like debbie downer but that first video is someone making bad choices. To screw up the rest of your life over driving thru a neighborhood like a mad man is not smart. I've known several people that have gotten killed that way and it's not the driver that dies. Please just keep that in mind bro. You do not want to carry that with you for the rest of your life.

Do a search and you'll find my post from a few months ago when I took on a 06 SRT10 Viper and won by two car lengths and then again from the start.
That car is impossible to drive from what I hear. Funny thing was I was on the phone with my mom the whole time I was racing the guy. lol. Good race!

Before I give my $0.02 please know this is my first post and I am not trying to come in here and talk smack, btw I love CLS 63's and hope to get a 55 in the near future. With that being said unless the Viper was a first gen. there is no way a CLS 63 would be able to hang with a Viper power wise. However, I don't doubt that you could have beaten a newer one.

My pops has a 05 SRT and I would not even drive the thing until he got rid of the runflats and put on KW's. The car has waaaayy too much power and handling abilities for the stock tires and coilovers. I had to let off on many occassions boosting the egos of 350Z's, EVO's, N/A P-Car's, etc.

As the car sits now it a complete beast. The Viper will walk my 308whp 353wtg 3120lb STi effortlessly where I am door to door with a CLS63 from roll.

Anybody else want to call BS on the STi door-to-door with a 63, FROM A ROLL? I've absolutely mangled STi's in multiple states of tune, including 400+awhp cars. They don't work on the highway dude. I hang at my mechanic's shop all the time while he's working on insane Supras, STi's, Z06's, AMG's, hell even Lambo's. (Broadway Performance in Passaic, NJ!!!) Anyway we've pretty much been through every smokin Sti in Jersey and they really don't have anything up top.

good post CH. There is a thread in the kill section showing the ML 63 destroying the WRX. Unless it has more tuning than what the poster claims the CLS from a roll should rape the STI. We can always count on you to cal bs, hey where the he** have you been?

Been searching for a new jobbie. I'm sick of mine, everyone at my branch is a zombie who gave up on life a long time ago. I suppose that's the problem with a lot of financial firms. I'm not ready to give up on my life yet, I don't want 2.5 kids and a dog, and a wife who stopped working out the second I put a ring on her finger. SCREW THAT. So I'm off to see the wizard.

But back on topic Juice, 308awhp doesn't even equate to 500 crank hp, so how in the hell is he supposed to think we're gonna buy that. I'm not here to ruin anyone's day (normally) or scare newbies away from the forum, I'm just trying to create a culture of TRUTH. If you lose a race, GET SOME MORE MODS and stop crying, everyone gets beat, there's always a faster car. Don't fake the funk is all I'm saying.

How much do those cars weigh? He could likely hang with 400 hp due to weight but 300 he would get destroyed unless I am hauling a sail boat.

I start a new job in July so , dam its gonna suck not being able to waste away talking cars with my buddies. Good luck on you search. And I know exactly where you are coming from. Anyway I welcome the guy to the group maybe he will suddenly disclose his car has 400 bhp which would make it an even match but still those cars from a roll its like me walking a Z06 from a roll...I can beat a Z06 from a dig up to 80 but then its goodbye. So starting from 50 would be dumb. The little STI likely could stay with a CLS for 100 ft or so, then its buh bye

A STi weighs a little over a ton and half.

Car is all over the place but what CH said is true. The STI is faster than a 63 from a dig, but by the 1/8 th mile it has lost 2-3 mph trap and the lead continues to grow after that. after 90 63 would just keep pulling away. So it really depends on what speed the roll starts from. Starting from any roll would be suicide for an STI starting from a dig likely makes this a very entertaining run

Yeah I knew some of you were going to call BS. Considering the roll was from 10mph to 100mph and my car dynoed at 235whp/245wtq stock and this car weighs more than 1000lbs less I don't see why it is that suprising

STi's are known to have no top end. 63's on the other hand are built for top end (as are M's).

BTW, CylinderHead, nice sig. Ali is the man, though I still think Joe Louis is better and I'm a Marciano fan so I'm gonna have to rank Ali #3 greatest heavyweight. Pound for pound Sugar Ray Robinson kicks Ali's ***.

Sorry bro, are you a GRIP ? Yeah seems unlikely you could hang but it certainly always is possible. Most 63 drivers are not of the race mentality. Like I said you would do better racing from light to light and likely could stay door to door. The 63 puts down 410 to the wheel and weighs a staggering 4400 lbs with no driver. Anyway welcome to MBWORLD , LOL

Yeah not trying to get in a pissing match by any means. I am on this board because I looking for a new daily driver and a CLS 55 is a car I am considering. My STi is just a weekend car that enjoy taking to the track and is not much of a straight line hero. However, the much added weight of a CLS despite the 100whp advantage makes for a good match-up with the STi I currently have configured.

I am also looking into a wagon. Anyone know the weight difference between a E55 wagon and a CLS 55?

Nobody likes people posting on forums without any kind of proof so I felt compelled to post this link.

2006 STi with stock turbo running 337whp and 400wtq this person ran a 11.7 1/4mile. My buddy has a 400whp one running low 11's with 120+ traps. Weight is the advantage in these cars.
