Is nav standard on the CLS55?

Just bought a CLS55 today with 2800 miles from a non-MB dealer for $75k. Didn't ask about options since for that price I didn't care. Turns out no dynamic seats, push button start, distronic, etc. Hit the NAV button and it said something to the effect of not being able to connect to the nav device. I'll have to go get the exact error message.

Is there something wrong or is nav not standard? Any idea how much to add if it's not included?

Anyone installed an aftermarket unit? The Pioneer AVIC-Z2 looks pretty badass I would just hate to ruin the factory look. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...070352,00.html

DVD Comand NAV was a $1240 option on the CLS.
Also dynamic seats are a option as well.

Congrats on your new purchase, you picked up a great car with low miles!
Post some pics of that bad boy!

Every other CLS with that few miles was $10k more. Seats and NAV aren't worth $10k to me. I bought the car for torque and looks, still got both. Unfortunately I probably also didn't xeon lights, going to look today. Even then I put xeon lights on my Corvette C5 for a couple of hundred bucks, not the end of the world.

I may try to find a good stereo shop in LA that can find some matching plastic or some of the factory wood to make a factory-looking install for a Pioneer. My CTS-V had the XM Nav traffic and I really would like that here and the little I've played with the MB nav I'm unimpressed but I don't want a hack job.

It's still a nice car regardless. CLS55s are great.

But if I was buying used, I would rather take a car with a little higher mileage with options than a car with super low miles and no options. There is really no difference between a car with 3,000 miles and finding one with say,.. 8,000 miles.

But good news is that the CLS navigation system pretty much sucks anyway, so you aren't missing out on anything. Look at after market options. Try the Pioneer AVIC- Z2, you can have it installed and make it look completely stock. You can also retrofit the bi-xenons as well.

Congrats on your car!

I believe the head unit is the same regardless if you have NAV, look in the trunk on the left side for the DVD unit. If you don't have that, you can easily buy a used on on ebay and install it.

Dude make sure it's a 55 and not a 500. We all heard the story of the guy whose dealer tried to sell him a 500 as a 600 since it had the wrong badge. As far as I know they didn't produce any 55s without Navi. Most likely your DVD is missing and you need to ask them for it.

Like Trez said above, make sure it's a CLS55...the 500's were not standard with nav or xenons...premium 1 has nav, premium 2 has the nav and xenons

It's definitely a 55, it's got AMG goodies on the door sills, VIN checks out and has the power. I drove an E55 and another CLS55 before this one. Lots more kick than my CTS-V had and that would leave a 500 for dead.

Looked in the back, no DVD unit. I do have low beam Xeons though which is a relief. My '06 CTS-V for $45k had xeons and navigation standard, pretty crappy that this doesn't. I'm going to see what I can do to make a factory looking install with an Alpine or Pioneer unit.

Can I make a suggestion, I'd purchase the Euro Comand unit, a lot of us have it, your able to play DVD movies, and with the surround sound in the CLS it sounds very good. You can purchase something like this, its the Euro head unit and the DVD rom to give you navigation as well.

Dude.....I'm almost 100% sure that Navi was an option on the 55's. I remember placing the order for it before it fell through. It was not standard.

I was thinking about replacing the factory unit with one of those before I bought the car and thought nav was standard so I'm definitely considering it.

Can I connect both an ipod and Sirius to it? What about bluetooth options, doesn't seem like there are any factory integrated kits are there?

While it may seem NAV is present on all CLS AMG's, it's not standard. Navigation is only standard on the S-Class, CL-Class and SL-Class, as per Mercedes Benz USA.

COMAND is standard, so many have the screen but don't have the DVD Navigation Disc Changer in the trunk - very easy to install and you can buy the parts on eBay, search the E-Class thread for exact part numbers.

Congrats on the car!

You can connect Ipod and Sirius, you just have to go into the programming of the comand unit to switch it from DVD to Sirius, it uses the same VIDEO/SAT button. I've haven't seen anyone add the sirius after the fact, not to say it can't be done though. Bluetooth is another ordeal, it requires having the factory Mercedes phone option, and even with that you have to spend another $350 to get the bluetooth adapter.

The navi system is NOT std on the 55, nor is the bi-xenon lights, nor is the Parktronic, nor is the 6 CD player, nor are the Drive Dynamic seats, nor is the keyless-go, etc. "That's a fact, jack."

In the arm rest I have what looks like a cell phone hookup. Does that mean I have what is required to get the $350 bluetooth module?

I thought the cars came with Sirius, is it actually XM? Seeing as how mine works right now I'm assuming the car comes with free service for a certain amount of time?

Yes if you have a funny looking plug in your armrest then that is what the Bluetooth puck plugs into. It sounds like you bought the car used, I don't think they give you free service, perhaps the prior owner prepaid for a year?
