NEW brake discs and pads ???

I put my car for 2nd service today and they told me it's time to change brake discs and pad.

My car is just over 40000km and quote was very high.

MB dealer quote was CAD $ 5647 (parts & labour)

is this right price for brake pad and discs ?

At 24k, i had to replace my brake pads it was about $900 US in total at a MB dealership. only changing the pads, and wear sensors, paste etc. I know the parts are expensive I have seen the front rotors on the net from a high of 980.00 each, and as cheap as 6 to 700.00

5600 CDN just sounds too high to me.

go to another dealership and have them look it over.. It may not even be time to do all the work he has an estimate for.. If it's just pads and sensor's you can do that yourself..

Get a second opinion... price looks high!

I heard pads at the dealer cost $300 for the front. Rotors AND pads for the front only are $700! Wow! Consider these DIY prices:

Rotors (by mb parts) = $208 shipped
Friction Master ceramic brake pads = $47

That's only $255.

I have heard that replacement of the pads by other than MB brand (Brembos) cause the wear indicator to give false reading and kick out a code. As a result, the wear indicators are disable. This needs to be confirmed.
I vote for ceramcis due to the reduction of brake dust on the rims.
