not to be a hater or nothing since im not a benz owner anyway -- my opinion is that m6 is fast yes , but it's so many of them in brooklyn and they just blend in with regular 645's 650's and it looks already boring as hell like amg makes the car look totally different , its either an ugly e350 with 17's or a GORgeouss stunning e63 you know , and interior on the m6 is horrible comparing to benzes or audis but still m6 is a very good car , my .02 cents

my wife has a M5. is a completly different car, therefore is hard to compare between the two. however the ride is more sporty, and the SMG and V10 is a complete blast. as for me, i prefer a MB over BMW, seems more classy when drivign clients around, but on the weekends, i dont like driving around in the M5, remind me of my younger days when exhaust was loud and flying down the freeway.

as for price, i still think the M6 is overpriced. we got a killer deal on a Used M5 with 3000 miles for 80K a few months back.

I personally love the M6, I am going to get one probably for my wife when the lease expires on the clk350 in 13 months. She likes the convertible which is cool, I would take it out on the weekends for fun. A friend has the 650 convertible which I have driven, the interior is real nice, and it is pretty fun to drive.

SL55 AMG, M5 E60, 2002 S55 AMG, Range Rover Sport Supercharged,
I have an M5, the E60 version with the V10. It's fast and the only good thing to ride on is Manual.

And.... not only that but it smokes AMGs! Just kidding

SL55 AMG ..... M5. Hmmm....

Anyways, all I know is that I've seen vids of Ms smoking AMGs and people claiming otherwise and vice versa... Which ones are really faster? Too many biased thoughts and people around...

Its been beaten to death on the E55 forums.

LONG story short:Looks to me like 0-100mph AMG's win. 100mph+ M's win.

If you like a high revving manual performance sedan go for the M5 (M6).
If you want a luxury cruiser that has monstrous torque and its easy to drive then go for the E55 (CLS55, SL55, etc).

I think it really comes down to which car looks better and if you want a manual or an auto.

If you don't mind me asking...
How were these races set-up? From a dig? On a role? If so, how fast did you start on the role?

every race is usually from a rolling start, or on the freeway, starting at approx 30mph. i am sure from a dead stop, i would take the lead, but on distance there's no match.

Heads turn when driving/arriving in a CLS 55/63. Not so in Ms.

I see. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us.
I would venture a guess and say the results would be different if you had the 6.2L motor.

No way I didnt like it.........ahhhhhhhhh

Test drove one the other day.... a silver with a carbon fiber roof option...the interior was white seats with black dash and wood accents...UGLY as hell... really it was bad... the exterior looks great except for the rear which seems to have been hit by a Semi... the overall look of the rear gives that appearance... just not right with the front of the car... anyway... the SMG tranny was nice if you like to shift gears..leaving it in DRIVE ONLY was not much to be desired.... you can control the time it shifts...but not fun at all....there is no torque on that car..... it is all gears until you get the motor to rev... very annoying ....feels like you have to drive it like an Indy car to get it to move.....i was very very unimpressed with the power.....I own a CL65, E55 AND CL600... E55 is now sold but still my Benz's are superior in all respect to that car....infact when the saleman told me he wanted $87k... i said well I just sold my E55 for $48k and that guy is getting a hell of a deal then.... because I personally wouldn't in any circumstance not take that M6 over any of my cars......especially the interior...if I can get over the lack of low end power I will still be looking at a BMW interior that seems about as dated as BMW'S 10 years ago... it had zero class and appeal....IMO....

i was in a parking lot in beverly hills yesterday and on the top level was a storage lot for their cars. i counted over 10 M6's. it made me think the market for those cars isn't as strong as they wished.

SL55 AMG, M5 E60, 2002 S55 AMG, Range Rover Sport Supercharged,
The styling and looks of the M5/M6 are questionable.... BUT, they might as well be faster at higher end speeds than AMGs

According to videos... posted...by Gustav.

Yeah, the current issue of Autoweek states that BMW is offering 3.9% incentive financing on M6's right now - meaning sales have likely slowed down a bit. Not surprising given all the bad PR on the SMG transmission.
