In those pics the way the tips sit in the diffuser housing looks sloppy. You'd think 2g's would get more...

Does the diffuser help performance?

Then you should be just fine. Parktronic doesn't typically pick up low objects very well.....

Just my .02 but I think the design looks really odd.

It looks like they had a SLR around and tried to adapt something similar for the CLS55. The problem is that the CLS has rear exhaust so they are limited to what they could do on the ends.

yup....and very odd how they did one on the clk black series as well...or any other car that has rear exiting exhaust and a rear diffuser. what were they thinking?

No need to get offended, it was my opinion.

First, lets be clear, these are rear trim pieces that look like diffusers. On our cars, these are ALL cosmetic pieces.

You really need to look a bit closer at what is done on the CLK Black Series. The part that is lower than the exhaust is an integrated cover over the differential oil cooler.

In this case, I think AMG did a really good job of integrating the rear trim piece (aka fake diffuser) and covering the differential oil cooler.

Many people have rear exiting exhaust and do a nice job of integrating trim pieces or real diffusers. Just look at what Ferrari does.

I just think the Renntech piece looks like a poorly designed add on.

I would spend my 2K another way, that is all I am saying......

The diffuser looks "long" in those pictures but I think that may be the result of shadowing. I say take a few pictures with more even lighting and you may have several from the galley.

you can see a little bit better of how it doesn't hang as low as these pics makes it look. especially on the side pic where you can't see the fins. in person it looks great....maybe it is just my opinion. i bought it for me not for anyone else...so i could care less what anyone thinks. i think it looks similar to the rear diffuser on my black series...and i like that one too. i was just posting pics because someone asked me too....

the theory behind a rear diffuser is that it prevents air from getting stuck in the rear bumper....so it aids in aerodynamic performance. this diffuser is pressed into the under side of the car and makes it so the opening between the rear of the bumper and the undercarriage no longer exists. how much does this one work....i don't know....i mainly bought it for the aesthetics.
