key battery is low......
So I get in the car a couple days ago and the alert on the dash says that I need to replace the key bettery. Is this an MB item or can I get it anywhere?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Radio Shack, when you take the valet key out use the same key to push the plack pin down and separate the FOB, you will able to see the battery.
Good luck, any questions PM I'll send you pics on how to do it.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Had to get the book out to figure out how to take apart the key fab for the battery replacement. The plastic verus the chrome come apart differently.
Good thing the Traumadoc is a doc--put his skills to good use for the removal of this organ.

I've had to replace mine 2X; it's a complete PIA to open that damn "smart"key and replace the batteries!! but even after replacing both the batteries the smartkey recognition sensor intermittently refuses to recoginze the key. Then I wave the darn key in front of the dashboard and it sez "ya, OK, you da man." Jeez Louise!
