DIY Oil Change for CLS63 or E63 AMG with Pictures
Great job and with the pictures too. I've always used 5W-30 (Castrol SYNTEC) with all my previous cars here in the L.A. area and never had any issues.
Hmmm...been real busy lately. How much do you charge for an oil change?
Any idea what the part number was? Want to buy them online but want to make sure I get the right one, some of these sites have a few to choose from. Thanks and outstanding write up!!
How do you reset that warning notification after the oil change?
Thanks for any information.
I know with BMW's, you had to have a reset tool which was sold as an aftermarket item and not at dealerships (for obvious reasons).
i will get home and check my receipt for the part number... i threw the box (duh)

The 55 is different, First you need the dip stick tool. Second you need the fleece filter, Third you need two new drain plugs (they are one time use only)
Mercedes has not approved vacuum extraction of the used oil, so drain both pans from below. And the current oil is Mobil 1 5W-40.

Thanks. Man, no wonder we don't DIY this!

Was wondering if Penzoil Platinum 5W-40 Euro would be even "better" than Mobil1?
Still nothing I can find out about this Service D reminder...
Juice/ Trez- any comments please?

they released esp for the general market but the original is 0w-40. porsche also uses 0w-40 for a reason, the nissan gtr also.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
i know this is an old as hell thread, but i wanted to add a couple things here in case someone buys an E63 and wants to change the oil on their own and goes by this thread.
first of all there are 2 drain plugs.one for the oil cooler and one for the pan.both plugs must be dropped to change the oil properly.
i am getting the info from alldata,i am assuming they are correct and they probably are, most indy shops go by alldata.
also they are very specific about having the car completely level when changing the oil.they are so specific about it that they say if your gas tank is not full then you need to add the appropriate amount of weight to the trunk before the change.
now that may be overkill, but i would bet that dropping BOTH plugs is pretty crucial to do a proper oil change.
also a fe more oils have been added to the list of approved oils, one being Amsoil and another being Motul.i can get the specific numbers if anyone needs them.
Dealerships can use any oil bought in bulk and charge out at £15 plus per litre ( whatever that translate in US )

), but any recommendations are appreciated from this experienced group!!
