*** Check Engine Light ***

So I drove my baby to work this morning, and she was a pleasure to drive as always. No issues noted. I drove her to lunch, no issues to note. I turn the car on to return back to the office, and BAM! The orange, check engine light is illuminated. Please advise what this may be. I will double check the gas cap on my way home tonight. I filled up 4 days ago, so I havent touched the gas cap in a few days.

Also, my car has prompted me that Service "G" is over due by , now 57 days. I havent had the time to take it in due to crazy travel for work. Anyone have a clue what service G entails? Everytime I ask the dealer, they tell me its a 13point service that starts at $335, plus a minimum of 2 hours of labor ($115 an hour.)

How should I proceed, is it OK to drive my car home tonight?

Any feed back is much appreciated. Happy Holidays!

2010 RRS ; BMW K1200R; 14 E350 ; 14 RRS on order
most of the time it's just the gas cap. but if it's been 4 days could be anything. I wouldn't drive it a lot longer without a visit.

If the light is orange I am told by the dealer it is still ok to drive. If it turns red, do not drive.

if check engin is encurred and goes away there is a record of it in the error codes. Some times it is ok to drive but getting it checked might save u a few $$ if it turns out to be something that will lead to an other

That evening before getting in the car to go home from work, I took off the gas cap for about 15 seconds, closed it, got in the car, turned it on, and more no more check engine light....

I was happy to see it gone, but I wonder if thats going to create an issue later on?

There is a real good chance that it was nothing to worry about. But I would definitely get the car in for its overdue service.
