Its Official

my CLS 63 and me are now official members of Fontana's race team and I will be running the Sportsman bracket during this season's Summit racing series.
I will be starting out in Stock and Super Stock and ET brackets. My dial is 12.50 and I will be allowed to dial lower :-)
Saturday is my first race and Sunday is the 2nd. Hopefully I can getsome sponsors and put stickers all overthe Benz , LOL..

Anybody wanna come hang out its only 10 bucks..
As for a sponsor, I don't think Keys MB is in the running (that lemon car post of mine).
Good luck. Wish I could come out and show my support. How much is all this costing you btw?

Its just 1/4 mile stuff...
no oval ,
Its is cheap , 35.00 per race, 50.00 to join the track. You need to join NHRA and then join the race team. I will be racing cars from 11.99-17.99 seconds..My car should be fine. This is actually cheaper than our private rental, but the stakes are higher. If you lose you likely go home or maybe race again once the actual points competition is over for the day.
This is about how well you know your car , the track and the atmosphere.
You pick a time say 12.7 and you simply try and run 12.71, closest to the time w/o going under wins!!!!

Course I get lined up with a 12.40's car and I picked 12.30, he leaves first actually may have been a girl
I leave I run a 12.40 he or she hits 12.403 3/1000ths away from the dial time they chose I was 1/10th away.. BOOOOOOI impressed the crowd and announcer with my benz but that was not good enough, went home at 2 and they hopefully cancelled today cause I did not show up..
It is super fun to race this way, truly a race of the better driver not of the faster car

This was a 1955 Chevy it was super loud and trapped 109 vs my 114 but beat me to 330ft and 660 I was pulling but not fast enough.

Congrats on your first race. It didn't go as you wanted but I bet the experience was fun. I can imagine your butterflies at the line. It's alot different then heads up for fun. I'm hoping to get my car registered before the 16th. I like the trophy days at speedworld better than just test n tune. I made it to the finals one day and got a trophy for runner up. I was nervous as heck in that final and slept at the line. Not by much but was enough to lose the race. These guys are so dialed in that the can toy with you if they got the lead. Reaction time is the only advantage that you can pull on them. Also you can deep stage and pick up about .2 to .4 tenths. Deep staging is when you trigger the 3rd beam six inches from staging, but be careful anymore and you go red. You'll know when you've deep staged when the second bulb goes out and the top one stays lit. Another dirty trick is a burn down. You won't make any friends, but the guys with the really hot engines will heat up quick. Usually these are the guys pushing their cars in the staging lanes. The trick is to pull in and stage turning on the first bulb only, then you make them wait and heat up their motor while you take your time turning on the second. Even 15 seconds may heat up their motor enough to lose precious tenths on the run. If someone blows their motor because you made them overheat you made need a gun. The proper etiquette is to stage first if your ready, or stage within 5-10 seconds of the other car staging. Good luck on your next time out. I have a 55' Chevy 2dr Belair, and would have loved to see that race. Sure would of been nice to put that baby on the trailer though. See you in a few weeks my friend. No more spinning at the top end either.
