Fuel filter recall
Service Campaign 2008020005 MAR08 CLK63, E63, CLS63 2007 & 2008 Due to increased crankcase pressure the oil dipstick may be pushed out of the guide tube causing rough engine idle. The oil dipstick will be replaced and on certain vehicles, in addition the crankcase ventilation pressure regulator valve will be replaced. Yeah, this happened on mine and I took it to the Tampa MB dealer. They neglected to tell me it was a recall and charged me almost $500 to fix it.
After I got my car back the fuel gauge only operated between the 1/4 and 3/4 tank marks so I took it back. Appears they pinched a wire. Aside from the additional day without the car, money spent off work to take it there and return, I was left with a ridiculously strong gasoline odor that has been in the car since. It's much less now; but passengers still complain about it.
Yes, I was ripped off by the Tampa Florida Mercedes Benz Dealership--again!
