CLS55/63 fun facts

you are an idiot. I can say that freely, because your comments show you chose to not read what the service entails, and simply only the parts.
Why dont you actually READ the top.
Further, you can get wiper blades for 5 dollars if you want, and the are pure-d ****. FYI the rain-x blades that are like the CLS55 blades (the full silcone/aero/flexible) to retrofit to any car are also 25 a piece...but you probably only ahve to change them once. rather than yearly.
man alive.

Whoever that was got raped.
1. Air filters and cabin filters takes about 30 minutes to change.
2. Wiper blades $50? Try getting these at Wal-Mart, they have Michelin Aero's and Bosch for much less. Try $25 for both. People actually pay for wiper blade replacement? 5-10 minutes.
3. Brake fluid? That can be bought and the little bit to top off is much less than $15.
So added up:
15.50
50.00
72.00
18.00
Equals $155.50, and of course some padded labor hours. I would estimate about 2-3 (probably more ) for about 1 hour actual work on these part installs. Dealerships love lazy people.

the new style of wiper blades (infinite curves) ARE 20-30 bucks a pieces at Walmat, etc.
the service included a BRAKE SYSTEM FLUSH, you said "topping off"
man you are dense.

Actually, no. I read the whole sheet from the start and saw what all the service entailed. I pointed out parts which could be installed be a noob and saved some money off the entire bill. Re-read my post and you would see I just pointed out those "specific" parts.
Uh...as far as blades yeah. Rain-X, Bosch, and Michelin are all at Wal-Mart, Pep-Boys, etc.
Barking up the wrong tree, and misunderstood the point where I was coming from. Name-calling, goodness man that is childish.

if you bought rain x LATITUDE blades for 14 a piece at walmart, you should buy them out.
this is the proper wiper for the cls 55, that is a near factory match. the lowest amazon price is 22.43.
http://www.amazon.com/Rain-X-5070649...=pd_sim_auto_6
as far as the other points, he had several other services done. the main radiator hose was replaced, the transmission fluid was flushed/filled (and presumably filter changed).
of all the parts prices, the ONLY one out of bounds is 31 dollars for an oil filter. the rest are just fine.
Now...450 for parts, that leaves about 900 for labor.
Well, I know it cost 200.00 for a proper transmission service from a junk shop around here....maybe 150...on a good day....so i will go with 150.00.
that brings us to 750.00
brake system flush is a disaster of a job to do...nastiest stuff in the universe. that typically runs 100.00
so now we are down to 650.00
changing the v-belt is also a horrible job, you obviously have not done it before....we worth paying someone 1.0 units to do
that brings us down to 575 (at 75.00 per unit labor at a chop shop)
Oil change with 21 point inspection at walmart (your favorite place) is 19 bucks + mobil1 (lets go 5 bucks/quart) = 40-50 bucks (they run deals on synthetic changes sometimes)
down to 535 (at 40.00 for oil change with 6 quarts synthetic...no way you get that price but whatever)
the 2nd line also indicates they hooked the car up the the magic scanner for testing of all drivetrain and other electrical systems, that costs a minimum of 100.00 (usually 1.0 unit labor + dealership scanner fee) -- this is not a simple obdII code check.
down to 435.00
so for 435.00 he got a loaner car (our class of car would be about 50-70 bucks for 1 day), he didnt get his hands dirty in 100 degree heat, he dropped it off, then picked it up after work fully serviced, and fulfilled the obligations of the factory warranty.
you still think he "got raped"?
my time is worth far far more then 435 dollar for 6 hours.

Not at all. I bought the RainX blades at Wal-Mart for $13.99 a piece, so I am coming from a place on that as knowing what the price is. I just changed those recently.
On the brake flush fine. Subtract it from the list of the parts mentioned, but it still doesn't negate the fact that some of the work is DIY and some money could been saved off the entire bill. That's the point I was making.
Anyway, back on to fun facts of the CLS.

AMG 6.3 L wins engine of the year award for 2009
The AMG 6.3-liter V8 engine received two awards, one for “Best Performance Engine” and another in the “Above 4 liters” category. The 6.3-liter mill cranks out a whopping 525 naturally aspirated horsepower and took first place by a wide margin in each class. In the “2 to 2.5 liters” category, Mercedes’ new four-cylinder diesel unit also took first place by a comfortable margin.

MEC DESIGNS
New package from MEC DESIGN for the CLS63:
"The bodykit features some of the most curvacious lines available, and the front bumper looks meaner than the devil on a bad day. It is available with daylight driving lights and fog lights or with a mesh inset. The rear bumper is available with the Sports Diffusor look or with a sleek elegant finish. The side skirts are available with or without LED lighting (5 lights per side) which is linked up to the internal lighting. The 3 piece rear spoiler finishes it all off nicely and is just another indication of MEC Designs attention to detail.
The alloy wheels are also designed by MEC Design and are a 3 piece design. The forged centre piece is high gloss compressed and has stainless steel outer rims. The front features 11×20 with 4,5 inch outer rims and 285/25 ZR 20 Hankook tires, whilst the rear has 13×20 with 5 inch outer rims again with 325/25 ZR 20 Hankook tires. The front axel has 10mm spacers and the rear axel 19mm spacers. All the bodywork has been done without the need for painting or lackering"

I'd like to know the real break down of CLS productions over the year's shipped to United States .
1. All CLS's AMG's with 030 performance packages
a. in 2006 total # and by color.
b. in 2007 & 2008 & 2009 & 2010 total #'s by color.
C. AMG production #'s by colors all years
D. Total CLS production all models AMG and Non AMG all years shipped to United States.
E. Total # of CLS insurance claims of vehicle totaled or salvaged and not in service
F. Special Appearance package cars, IWC , president package , or interior colors &
exterior colors
The rarity and let's say collectible value of any car is usually determined by total production #'s and special options such as engine type , special packages such as appearance packages , performance packages .. etc

2012 CLS preview ordering guide
Lots of changes for the 2012 model ..... Twin Turbos, parking assist and lane keeping assist are the main ones.
Ordering guide: http://www.mercedes-amg.com/privatel...2&d=1289919029
Active Parking Assist
http://vimeo.com/7909010
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ij4mTxFs1j8
SIRIUS satellite radio with SIRIUS real-time traffic service
10 Airbags standard (with 2 Airbags optional)
multi-color ambient lighting – Solar, Neutral, Polar
Full LED Headlights & fog lights
Rearview Camera
Split-Folding Rear Seats
Heated Rear Seats
233 – DISTRONIC PLUS (with PRE-SAFE® Brake)
237 – Active Blind Spot Assist
238 – Active Lane Keeping Assist
If the driver ignores warnings and the vehicle comes dangerously close to the next lane, Active Blind Spot Assist will intervene. Applying braking force to the wheels on the opposite side of the vehicle via the Electronic Stability Program ESP® creates a yaw movement which counteracts the collision course. The system intuitively deactivates as soon as the driver steers against the effects of the braking intervention or the vehicle accelerates.
If an accident can no longer be avoided in spite of correcting the direction, Active Blind Spot Assist can mitigate the consequences of a collision through course correction. Where the system detects vehicles or obstacles just a short distance away on the opposite side, it will adapt its braking intervention accordingly. To do so, Active Blind Spot Assist also uses data from the front sensors for DISTRONIC PLUS proximity control.

These vehicles are getting way way way to complex. Would not want all these extra items and you need to dump these cars before your warranty expires or the problems/costs will ruin your ownership experience. JMHO
