Should I? 09 CLS63 for $60K

Ok, so I personally know this car, and driven it few times.

It's an 09, with 19K miles, the driver side was sideswiped and all panels were replaced. The car was also vinyl wrapped and when the vinyl came off, it damaged the clearcoat above the doors where the car was repainted, so basically it would need a whole new paint job (i dont care since I want a unique color anyway). There was a case where there would be a small creak coming from the rear driver side, but apparently the dealership took care of that and it hasn't made the creaking noise.

The car was never really abused, every time I was in the car with the driver, he drove like a grandpa... of course once in a while he'd push on it, but hardly.

No p030 package. Black on Black

Should I get it for $60K?

CLS55 plus a few Ducati's
Well it doesn't seem that great a deal to me because they wouldn't normally have many buyers for a car like this anyway.... price really is the only way to move something like this and $60k is only so so in my opinion.

You could probably find one for the same $$$ without the damage history. What color would you considering painting it?

If one could find me one like for $65K please do, everyone that's selling the 63's is asking for at least 5-10K over KBB price ! Cheapest I was able to find an 08 with 20K miles is $65-70K ! Doubt anyone would find an 09 for that price.

07's are going for aprox. 55 at Manheim !

I would pass on a car with accident history. There are many fishes in the sea and be patience and you will find the right one for you.

I don't wanna pass it on It's too cheap to pass on, because I think that even after a year, if I ever decided to sell this car, I can easily get the same I paid for it. That's the deal I was initially looking for. In fact, I was looking at insurance auctions that might have possibly had a wrecked/damaged 63 and repair it myself. I come from a modding scene were we took my friends new G35 sedan when he bought it, chopped up the fenders, and welded ones to adapt a coupe front end on it.

Like I said, I work in a shop and I've seen tons of cars come in to get QT panels replaced, and brought back to factory specs, replacing a panel on a car isnt as complicated as people make it seem. A car with body work doesn't scare me. I plan on getting an entire body kit for the car, as well as possibly flare out the fenders to accommodate a more aggressive offset wheels.

Anyway, I sent in a credit application for this deal and hopefully I get approved. Once the car is paid off in the following year, I'll start chopping it up to my specifications as I could never keep anything stock in my life. lol

PS... you'll guy will probably shyt bricks but this is going to be my first car. Knowing that not everyone is a perfect driver with their first car, I'll probably end up smacking up a panel or 2 myself, and will end up replacing it regardless.

I'd pass on it too (sounds like it has issues), but it's pretty obvious that you had your mind made up before you posted to ask the question.

The expense in an AMG or similar performance car is NOT in the initial price...it's in the maintenance & cost of ownership. Scraping the pennies together to afford this type of car usually results in being broke and the car getting sold. Especially if you mod and plan to add even more expenses in the form of body work, wheels, etc. A brake job/oil change/tires is more than most people pay for a few months of car payments. I'm not implying anything about your financial situation, but if cash isn't a problem, why hunt for the cheapest '09 possible? Just buy a fresh one and avoid the issues.

Best of luck

Well I don't plan on modding it till it's payed off, which I wanna do within the first year of owning the car, and have big plans for 2011. I want to hunt for the cheapest 09 possible so that if I do decide to sell it in 1-2 years of owning it, I hardly take a loss on it, especially when it's going to be in better condition than it is now. Basically my friend sold the car to someone who isn't happy with it, he wasn't a fan of the painted headlights, faux cf interior, cheaply painted calipers, and a bad paint job, after I'm done with it, it'll be a perfect candidate to sell for almost the same price I purchase it for. I don't have the $ nor the credit to get approved for a new one, so my budget is $60K, for which you can BARELY find an 09 with the same amount of miles for, and the difference between the 08 and 09 is like night and day.

Thanks, hope to shine some light on this community once I'm a part of it.

credit turned down blessing in disguise.

this car will be worth less than $40k in a very short time. (i used to make what i thought were conservative predictions on what used cars will be worth, truth is - it's not possible to be conservative enough).

imho, for the $20k depreciation hit, you're better off spending $20k on a nice car that you enjoy 90% as much as the CLS63. after all, in 2 yrs the $20k is probably still worth $10k+.

btw, just so you realize that ths scenario works. two years ago i bought my used 2002 S55 ($110k MSRP) for $21k and it's probably worth $10-13k today. the S55 still drives and looks great, and most people still see it as a $100k. would i enjoy a newer S55 or S600 more? yes. however, i've got 90% of the fun for 1/2 to 1/3 of the cost of upgrading today. in 2 yrs, i can do this again. just donate or sell my S55 cheaply to a friend, and buy today's $40k car for $20k.

PL

Buy what you want and have a ton of fun. Time is never on or side.. You should NEVER buy a highline car as an investment they are for extreme fun only. I have lost so much money on high end cars but I have had SOOOOOOOOO MUCH fun, and that my friends is PRICELESS.. What's your budget?.. maybe I can help.

Well I don't have a budget, it's what I can get approved for. I can make payments on a Bentley if I wanted, my step pops credit is good but short, so they don't want to give any expensive loans on his short automotive leasing/financing credit history.

here is just one of the items on the car you are looking at.. Not that it's bad but it has been at auction about 5 times and has had 3 titles.
It's all about down, term, income and work history...

Lease... ouch. There's just nothing in that price range that's even worth looking at, most 55's in the 30K price range either have beige interior, or the same amount of millage and aren't as loaded as this one is.

The credit is on point, BMW including several banks told me that the score is great, income is great, work history is good, it's just that the credit holder only has 1 completed lease, a new lease, and no cars financed on his credit, apparently it's not enough for them, and they're all asking for a co-signer.

My plan is to pay this car off within a year if not less, what's a good term to lease the car for? 36 months? 48 months? 60 months? What'll help me get approved?
