I am thinking of ordering a cls 63 but im also thinking of getting the p030 package.
for all of you who have gotten it or passed it up can you please give me your input!

If having the alcantara steering wheel, delimited speed limit of 174mph the cf interior and brakes is a must for you I'd say so. But overall you can get all that for much cheaper from just a tune and other after market parts.

Well...
I bought mine as a preowned CPO and it has the p30 package.
I like telling people I can go 186 mph. I like the big front rotors.
I don't know if the interior is different or not. Does the Alcantara headliner come with the regular CLS63? If not, I like the Alcantara headliner. The rims are OK. Aftermarket rims are better.
However, I don't drive my car very hard. I might now and again, but not often, so I don't necessarily get that much use out of the package.
But, then again, like nuclear missles, it's always nice to have....just in case

Isnt the CF interior not available pre '08? How big of a difference does that LSD make? I was thinking of getting a 030 but the thought of people willing to spend the 9k on that pkg make me believe they'd track the hell out of the car!!!

hahaha! thanks tom! i have been going back and forth about doing the p30 package. the two huge sellers to me are the AMG Limited-Slip Differential, AMG Track Calibrated Airmatic Suspension

I wish I had done it to the last one, drove for 2 years trying to make do with feathering the gas peddle to keep the wheel from always spinning.
Coming hard out of corners is what a quaife is all about, hit it hard (30 mph) when exiting a curve and you'll install one.
What I want to know is why Mercedes-AMG does not just make LSD standard ?

The biggest difference is the brakes. Brimbo makes the brakes and they are larger up front. I’ve driven both cars and you can fill the difference. You do not have to press as hard and there is no brake fade. Lots of stopping power!
Better looking rims.
You get positive track rear end.
This can be a real big help if you like drag racing.
Top speed to 186… I do not do this very often. Traffic and law enforcement are normally heavy!
Track tuned suspension. I like it and it is not a ruff ride. I did notice that my car stays flatter in corners.
Personally, I will get it again… hopefully in 2011 if Mercedes doesn’t kill the looks!

Might help to think of it like this, the original owner payed and extra $15,000 for the 030 package and carbon fiber int-ext.
Bet you don't pay more then $4-5k for it.

You might also want to get the park tronic as these cars are very difficult to back in. I do not have it and tried to get the dealer to install it. They said it has to be ordered with it because the wiring is done threw the frame.

From all that i have seen and read the 2012 will be the car change but u will see it in the summer of 2011. ill be going back to germany to pick up the car this summer so the 186 will be fun over there other then that i really dont see much of a need for it esp when you can get the car chipped. from a few photos and what i read they have thicker swaybars, and strut bars for the Track tuned suspension.

Tom i would love to come take ur car for a ride but im going to be in the bahamas tomorrow im back monday. the more i really think about it i might just be better off not buying the p30, and just dropping some money in to quaife, and just chip it lol

I usually get a new car every two years and was thinking about picking up the 2012. This lease is for 30 months but usually they send me a letter saying turn it in it 4-6 months early.
