Standard CLS leather vs. Premium AMG Nappa?
All the AMG's come with Nappa leather, and the non AMG's don't. I was curious about the differences in the two. Does anyone have some sort of description between the two? I know the standard will be more grainy and the nappa will be smooth, but besides that... ~Thanks

2007 CLS550
Model year 2006-08 CLS500/550 came with Premium leather upholstery on all seat surfaces, armrests and door trim inserts. Leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift knob. The CLS55/63 came with AMG-design Nappa leather upholstery with alcantara shoulder areas, AMG-design leather-trimmed sport steering wheel and leather-trimmed AMG-design shift knob. You could special order Nappa leather on the CLS500/550 as an individual option for $960. Starting on model year 2009 the Nappa leather option for the CLS500/550 option was discontinued. Mercedes also changed the nomenclature to remove the word "premium" from the leather description on the CLS550 and replaced the word "Nappa" with "Premium" on the leather description for the CLS63. So now the CLS550 has leather upholstery, steering wheel and shift knob and the CLS63 has those components in AMG Premium Leather and still has alcantara in the shoulder areas. The Sunset Red color interior was also discontinued in MY 2009.
But to answer your question... The Nappa leather is softer (glove soft was used in one description) than than the Premium Leather. To get any better description you're going to have to go to a dealer and see/feel the difference for yourself.
