Need advice (ESP not working)

My warranty just went off on my car about 1000 miles ago. My ESP warning lamp is on...the one that says ESP Malfunction, see a MB dealer. Does anyone know what the problem could be or how much $$$ I'm going to be out of when I get it fixed. Just want a heads up, I have an appointment at the dealer Thursday. Thanks in advance!

You might need a new ESP module:

If the dealer thinks that you need a new one let me know. I have one for CLS and E class. Get a part number from them and I can match it with the part number on the modules that I have.

I can sell you one for a cheap price

Did your power steering or any other functions shut down when you saw the ESP malfunction message?

No, nothing shut down, but I know the ESP is not on cause I punch it one time and she got sideways on me. She's never done that before. Thanks for your help!

There is also an inexpensive steering wheel sensor in your column that goes bad. A 3 hour repair. Mine was covered under warranty so I dont know how much the repair was.

Try starting your car. turn the steering wheel all the way to full lock to the right and then to the left. turn the car off and the re start. I could make the ESP "bring to workshop" warning completely disappear for a few days by doing that nut then it would come back. I got sick of it being intermittent and took it to the dealer. The service manager claimed it was a well known problem with the CLS. Hope that helps.

My ESP message (as well as active headlight display malfunction) came on recently also. my tech at MB of Buckhead here in georgia replaced the steering wheel angle sensor. He said semi-commo0n problem with my CLS 55. replaced under warranty.
