Oil Issue

Does anybody know what could cause oil to leak on the passenger side of the motor. So much that is caused a 5'x3' slick under my car.

This is after I just had is serviced from the dealership. Luckily I was on my way home and saw smoke. Thank the man upstairs I had a fire extinquisher the oil caught FIRE on the manifold.

It's back at the dealership now and they still can't seem to find the leak. At first they said they didn't push the dipstick down all the way.. I'm sorry I work on all my cars except this one...I dont and cannot see THAT much oil coming from a a dipstick. The whole lower side of the engine was covered.

Any ideas? I am at a lost. This is the first service after a year of my ownership and I do not thrust what these guys are saying..

I know that Mercedes uses a black silicone adhesive Vs gaskets to seal the motor. If that stuff is not applied properly then you will have a leak.

If there was oil on the top of the engine, I would suspect the oil canester was not properly torqued. However, that is located on the drivers side.

In any case, the Starless Dealer is 100% responsible. Hopefully, the Starless Dealer did not invalidate the warranty due to the fire.

Sounds like you need to have a face to face with the SM. Maybe it's worth a 'buy back'? You might want to raise the issue of 'Diminished Value' ($$$)

I did talk to them ...several times. but what they are telling me doesn't work. They are taking responsiblity but what good is that if mentally it just not the same owninig this car. What I need is a better service center. Mechanically I know it better be fixed but DAMN

Which is why I was asking about where that much oil could come from on the passenger side. I have been looking at schematics on the 6.3 engines but nothing is over there cept a cooling line in front. Maybe the oil blew back on exhaust manifold?

I would suggest duplicating the situation by leaving the dip stick up an inch or so. I doubt that is the cause, because I believe the crankcase is under negative pressure.

If I were you, I would estimate diminished value from the fire that affects your car's worth beyond the acutual repair dollars:
1. Warranty Issue
2. Car Fax Reporting of Fire and repairs due to fire (paint damage, etc.)

Sounds like you got the A Team on it.

Keep us informed as to what MBUSA finds.

Update:
I got my car back yesterday. It's running pretty good. No leaks idling smooth everything checked out Ok. What was found the PCV (pressure regulator) had a service bullertin (DTB s-b-01.20/24a)?????? It was listed in the alldata information too. But anyway, the car is running great for know. MBUSA was definately concerned over the matter. I told the rep that I will drive the car for about a month HARD and let her know. She wanted me to make sure I kept in contact with her over the situation.
