12v socket powers on and off

Has anyone had a problem with there rear passenger 12v socket? I could use some help... I use my rear 12v socket to power my radar detector. It now looses power and then comes back on. So my guess is there might be a short of some sort somewhere in the car. This circuit also provides power to the floor lights and the red warning lights inside the door when you open it. Would anybody have a wiring diagram (2007 cls63) that could help me solve this, or experience this before?

Probably a stupid question but, are you sure it is the socket and not your power cord for your radar detector? I've gone through a lot of power cords before I did a custom installed radar detector.

Yes im sure. To be honest i was hoping it was the radar detector or cord because that would have be a simple fix. I have plug other things in it to check and it does the same thing, also I tapped into the wire to bypass the socket, still same result.

How do you get the wires at the rear passenger 12V socket? Also, are any of the fuses in the main fuse box (left driver dash) "switched". I was trying to hardwire radar detector there with "add-a-fuse" but could not find a switched fuse 10A or less. So now looking at the rear passenger 12V socket on a 2007 CLS63 AMG.

I have my radar detector sitting a little above the center speaker. so i popped off the speaker cover ran my wire down an opening next to the speaker. down to the passenger side of the dash and center console and basically just tuck the wire up under and along the center console. once i reached the rear 12v there is a small square cover that give you access to the wire. which is 12v only when car is on, and enough space to add an additional fuse for it also. Oh after i darn near took the car apart trying to figure out why i was loosing power, it was due to a loose ground on the battery terminal. they never tightened it back up, just sitting there loose,

Thanks. Great info. I did find out that there is another fuse box, not mentioned in the manual, in the engine compartment on driver's side at rear toward windshield that has switched fuses. I used an add-a-fuse on a 7.5A switched fuse and all works great.
