how to get shifter console out

So I am trying to do a V1 hardwire and using the great posting here to do it.

https://mbworld.org/forums/cls55-amg...-ipod-fix.html

I am having a ***** of a time trying to get the shifter console to pop out.

Any tips/tricks?

See pic below of one already popped out

I remember when getting mine to come out... the guy was pulling so hard i thought it would break in half... i believe you pull the front most part toward the ash tray... pull that out first and go at it...

hmm still trying but I swear I am gonna break something. I am pulling straight up on the front of the console near the ashtray and get no movement.

wonder if it slides forward then up?

Open the ashtray, pull the console up and towards the rear of the car with both hands. It won't break use a little force

the front will lift first then you pull the entire console forward and it will look like the picture you posted

I just installed an ironic BT phone switch in my E55 and had to pop up the shifter console to access the CD changer. I had the same problem getting the console up. I found that if I grabbed the console at the front lip where it meets the ashtray but on the driver's side front corner of the console and yanked, it came right up. Grabbing it in the center of the front edge did not budge it. But grabbing it on the drivers side front corner for some reason made it come up with very little force. I too was worried I would break it.

Now my issue is my damn ashtray cover keeps sticking in the closed position. I applied some light white grease to the moving levers at the sides but the thing keeps getting stuck in the closed position. Any thoughts on how to remedy THAT annoyance?

Good luck with your project. Greg
