Asanti Mess!!

I have a set of 20” 3 piece Asanti AF122 Black wheels. My rear rim’s center piece started to crack resulting in 8 out of 20 spokes completely broken off. I’ve decided to call Asanti to seek help with this issue. I was given a phone number to a service place in Hartford, CT where I was informed that it would be $800 to replace the defective part and a 3-4 week wait. If I had not discovered this could’ve ended up as a potentially deadly accident. I expected the manufacture to acknowledge the defect and to provide me with a better solution than $800 and a 4 week wait!
I just want to warn anybody being in the market for custom wheels to stay away from Asanti.
This is why;
3 of my rims have leaked air and had to be resealed
On my two lips near the center pieces there is chrome finish peeling off
The black finish is peeling off in few different spots in all 4 wheels
My center piece has completely broken off 8 spokes– HUGE SAETY ISSUE!!!
These wheels have been used only for approximately 25k miles during which they were well cared for.

How could they crack like that??

Asanti is a large wheel manufacturer and I find it hard to believe that they won't help you out here.

I can tell ya that this is enough for me to NEVER consider Asanti wheels...

hmmm, further proof why everyone hates the wheels on my car. They were on when i bought it but this is unacceptable. Wheels fail like this due to design. If they don't fix it, post everywhere you can how bad they are.

this is why you have seen a decline in asanti wheels out there.. their wheels are junk.. mass produced/marketed. The are using components from overseas the make as much profit as possible.

Those spokes are very skinny. I love some of their out the box designs and would give them the benefit of the doubt(A lemon wheel that somehow got passed testing) if they had replaced your rim for free ASAP. Because that's a pretty huge company. I'm surprised it was not covered under warranty. Also, what $850 "part" is defective? Seems the whole wheel is defective, unless it's a 2/3 piece wheel

If they want $800 to replace the center section of that one rim, what is the retail price on the entire rim? If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for it? I'm just trying to get an understanding on how much of a "solution" they're giving you. Also does that price include labor as well, which by any means would be at the very least an hours worth.

I mean, if you paid like $2500 for each rim, $800 for a center isnt that bad...

Also what is Asanti's warranty terms or coverage details? I know some of the other "big players" in the wheel biz offer up to a 1 year coverage on the structure on their wheels. I see you've driven on them for 25k miles, but how long have you owned them?

Labor was included in the given price. It's around $1000 to $1250 per wheel. I've had them for more than a year.

On Asanti wheels...from an owner and my friend:

"In all my years and sets of rims, Porsche with 3 piece rims, trucks, I have never had the issues out of them I have had with my Asanti's on my CLS (he has a 55). Not only are two leaking from seal issues, but one has gotten bent from normal driving the Porsche rims and others never had."

Quoted verbatim..that was enough to change my mind from using them.

a car that gets very poor gas mileage.
Geez, that's just wrong.

Asanti doesn't make the kind of wheels that I would buy, but I will certainly let others know about this....don't want to see my friends or family jeopardizing their life because of poor craftmanship.
