Why did Benz stop making the CLS 55 after one year?

no 55k has a clutch pulley and it is not on all the time, only when at load.
believe it or not my new CLS consume more gas than my highly modded 55k on cruise control 80MPH.
i sure like the new TT engine more than 55k and it is stronger.
everyone is going for turbo to conume less gas and to preform better.
