Newbie here - Got a decision to Make: 04' SL55 or 06' CLS55 - PLEASE HELP ME :)

Hey guys,

I'm a new member, I have been browsing your forums intensely looking for information on these AMG cars, and I am completely sold, however, I am extremely torn between going for an 04' SL55 or an 06' CLS55...

I live in Costa Rica, and over here, cars (specially luxury cars), are extremely expensive, with that said, the SL55 is $50k and the CLS is $80k!!! (I know, I'm about to get :OWNED

At first I was dead set on the CLS55, but after following AMGfan's SL65 build and photoshoot threads, I have become an SL admirer of sorts..

I could trade in my BMW and get the CLS or make a down payment and get the SL while keeping my BMW (gotta have a 4 seater), $30k it's a massive difference between the two, but like I said, I am 50/50 atm, I need some help, I would love to have a convertible with the weather here... but the CLS looks meaner, I need help, please!

It depends on what you want to do with the car. If you never have a 3rd you want riding with you get the SL. If you want the badest one in costa rica, get the sl then spend half of what u saved on upgrades. Or, save the 30K and get a motorcycle too.

I've decided to do this...

Trade in my BMW... for an 06' CLS 500 (spend 10k on it)
$3500 brake upgrade
$3500 wheels
And the remaining $3k on cosmetic upgrades

Put down $15k down payment on that sweet SL55 AMG and Spend $10k making it a rocket! another $7k+ k on wheels and stuff!

That CLS55 was simply too ridiculously priced to be an option

I suggest getting the CLS bc 1) classic design that still doesn't look outdated 2) cockpit feel is second to none 3) a lot more unique that an 04' SL 4) far more practical. Must get an amg model tho!
