2008 CLS63 AMG
Warranty

Hello, I just purchased an 08 CLS63. I am contemplating on purchasing the extended warranty. The car had one owner, it has 45,000 miles and service history is good with no major problems. My question is should I pay $5k for a warranty or just take a chance and repair as needed. Have any of you had any major issues that were extremely expensive to repair?

CLS 63 AMG
Warranty

There is no way I would own one of these things without an extended warranty. My warranty has probably covered close to $15K in repairs in the year I have had the car. My car is an 07 CLS63 AMG that had 27,000 miles on it when I bought it. As a matter I'm on a trip, currently in Houston headed back to Las Vegas, and the car is going into the shop tomorrow for noise from the rear axle. So far it has needed new engine mounts, front wheel bearings, a bolt kit for front end alignment, front end bushings, intake manifold gaskets, a GPS antenna, oil pan leak, six check engine resets and navigation system problems. The $5,000 cost of the warranty is money well spent. I've had more problems with this car than I ever did with the Jag I owned prior to this car and the Jag was one of worst rated cars for reliability. This is my first Mercedes and will probably be my last. So much for Mercedes Benz's "commitment to quality" superior German engineering and "quality". If you buy the car BUY THE WARRANTY!!!

Everything breaks down as it gets older Especially on German mobiles, get the warranty.

A warranty to me is no difference than car insurance- it may not be needed, it costs a premium and its needed. Unless you buy your cars new.

A warranty is important with these cars. But without knowing what company, plan, term, deductible, etc you were quoted there is no way to know if it's a good deal or not.

Email me directly at brucem105@comcast.net and I can help you select something that will work for you. I have 20+ people here on MBWorld with warranties they got from me.

warranty experience

I paid $ 4,505 for my Easy Care warranty/not covered repairs and have a year left or 18,000 miles to 60,000 on the car.

So far I have spent parts/labor - covered by warranty:

$ 1,100 for front strut
$ 1,800 for one coil pack
$ 1,700 for ignition module/intercooler motor

So I am about even after 3 years of ownership or 16,000 miles.....so I actually paid for the work, albeit over the ownership time period

Granted it is a SL 65, where parts, etc. are more expensive......

At a certain point you can't always carry a warranty because of the relatively high initial expense outlay, but could establish an annual maintenance repair fund that you can keep carrying over, figuring you are going to spend about approx. $ 2,000 a year including new tires/regular maintenance ever couple of years depending on mileage driven.......one person's experience and comments...
