So much for using 19s !!!

Before I bought my Renntech CLS. I thought comfort was still important for me , and since the car has Chrome 20s on it ,I thought I will change them to 19s and go back to stock size 19...I didnt know that the car has those pizza pie size rotors on the fronts, I mean they are truly ridiculous 16.2 " with the 8 pot calipers .. thee is no way on earth those things will fit with 19' wheels ! I still cant figure out why Renntech would put 255-35/285/30 in 20 size on that car , I Posted that question but no one has an answer for me !

Thanks for the chuckle !The care was Renntech's own Demo car , and it is featured on their site , the 3 pc Renntech chromes were put on by them from the start . Actually I was surprised, in person they look gorgeous , for my personal taste I would much rather have the same in all Gun metal powder coat..

Nice wheel..... but to get you speedometer correct I would swap, out the tire with the hankook evo 295-25-20 rear or 305-25-20 rear and either 245 or 255 30-20 for the front. It would make wheel standout more (tire look too fat in the pic you added IMO), & if you have smooth road I wouldn't worry to much about ride comfort. as for 19" wheel standard AMG ClS no problem same goes 2pc 030 package wheel or SL55/63 19" hope that help. not a fan of all chrome but anything renntech is nothing to laugh @ 4real........

Thank you . Yes I had a feeling that will throw off the speedo, I am waiting to speak with Renntech tomorrow to se if they had done that on purpose or was it a mistake from the previous owner... although I posted the tire size question and a couple of W211 E55 members said that they do use 1" larger tires on 20s for more comfort and protection of the rims ...of course looks are very nice but so is comfort .. and to me more meat is more traction . A friend's S65 came stock with 255-30 / 285-30 not 25 !! in 20s on the forged AMG wheels so got me thinking . I know it is best to stick to overall diameter of the stock tires or the equal in 20s. As for the 19s stock .. I would be happy to go to that but I honestly cant see how the rotors ( 16.2" ) can fit with 19s

You are correct my mistake , the S65 had 255-35-30 F , but with 275-35-20 NOT 30 for the rears ...I am wondering why same aspect ratio for both .. which means 27" Diameter tires front and 27.6" Rears , a stock CLS came with 255-35-19 ( 26" Diam ) Fronts and 285-30-19 ( 25.7" Diam ) , all I am wondering about is AMG sticking to a higher aspect ratio for the rears , unlike some tuners

It is not AMG specifit. All non 4matic S-class and CL-class cars from 2007-on, when equipped with 20s from factory, use 255/35-20 front and 275/35-20 rear.

Interesting , ordinarily on a staggered setup the rears always had a lower aspect ratio tires .. I wonder why they changed that on the 2007+ S class ?
