I had a CLS500. Sold it, needed the AMG touch. I had an E55. Overall really liked it. Probably should have kept it but it was nothing special to look at.

The more I analyze the ride of my 030, for the trade-off, I can live with the firmer ride. What is anyoing is the side to side swaying motion I get when driving on certain roads. My cls500 did the same thing though not as bad. I drove 3 other cls55 (non 030) and it was almost nonexistant. One even had 20" wheels and it rode nice! Seems firmness does not have as much to do with it as I thought. Shouldn't be any worn suspension parts, the car only has 10k miles. Any educated guess??

What your feeling is the staggered fitment wheels and tires. It falls un and out of the highway groves and andshifts the car around. This is 100% the problem. buy non staggered wheels and tires this will be gone. Every staggered fitment car I have ever owned has done the same thing .
If you drive on a new paved road it will be gone. High traffic roads have goves that you cannot see. You can only feel them with very wide tires that don't track correctly in them. Makes the tires skip in and out.

So you are saying to put the same size wheels and tires front and rear??

Tires can play a big part in it. Not only size but brand. I've got 20's as well and dont mind the harsher ride. I'm a sucker for stance and can compromise some of the comfort for looks and performance. I love your rims but it's obvious you need a taller profile in the rear to match the front. There really isn't a cure other than going with a smaller wheel/bigger tire combo...especially with the 030.

Yes . If you want a solution to the the car skipping around the lane and the harsh ride put the same size rims / tires front and rear . Might not look as good but it will give you what your looking for.
Again : Staggered wheel and tire set up are very sensitive to roadways being worn down by heavy traffic or trucks. You might not be able to see it but if you got out of your car and looked at the road you would see the ruts that make the car skip to the left and right.
Like 5280CLS55 said you have to know where to draw the line and sacrifice a beautiful stance for a little ride dis-comfort.

This might be worse than your roadways, but you can see what i am talking about. these type of roadways and staggered fitments "dont work" and this problem gets 10xTimes worse when you put a wider tire (295 or 315)on there and then push offset (more aggressive) further out of the groove !!!

Tires? You have to do wheels and tires. Your front and rear rims will not accept same size tires. So in order to feel a difference you need to do rims and tires.
If I could sacrifice the aggressive staggered stance I would run 255 35 19 all around . Run a 19x8 or 19x8.5 front and back. Offsets must be factory spec or really close.
(Changing just the tires will not change anything for your 2 concerns!)
