Intercooler pump failure...Need advise

With that said, I am pretty sure I have the common intercooler pump failure happening on my 2006 CLS55 70K miles. The supercharger seems to be kicking in and out in all transmission modes. Seems to get worse at higher temps. Typical feels like "loss of power" or "loss of 100hp"
I have a couple questions about this issue...
Does it kick out a code/check eng light?
Mine hasnt yet...
Is this because the pump is just insufficient not totally shot and letting the temps get too hot hence the ECU turns off the supercharger until temps drop on there own? Or is it a mechanical failure of the supercharger?
And it wont kick a code until the pump totally fails?
Im thinking if thats the case is there a way to make sure the code is kicked on permanently so I can get it fixed???

Aftermarket pumps seem to be aplenty online and if I am to get some sort of credit to fix it on my own will it be worth it to find a higher yield output pump to prevent this problem?
Are there ones that are plug and play or do they need to be hardwired? I dont want to deal with hardwiring.
I will also say, I am planning on doing a on ECU reprogram soon to increase output once this is fixed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and sorry for all the noob questions.
