AIRMATIC strut failure - ADVICE?

Hi,

Went for a drive today and felt a strange behavior of my CLS63AMG.
When I parked, the car suddenly tells me "Wait, rise up car" (or something like that). After a while it change to "Car too low, ..."

Looking at the car it was obvious the front right side was a lowrider.

Any info if the strut can be repaired (car has only 26000km)?
Where I get OEM replacement for a good price?
Are there better aftermarket parts available?
Anyone change to a for example adjustable Billstein kit...and no issues in future anymore?

And finally: Did anyone change the strut himself and has some good advice?
The car is parked at my workplace where is enough space to work on it. I would like to avoid towing the car...

Appreciate any advice!

Thanks
MArtin

Arnott. Do a search, there's lots of info on this, and E55's have the same problem.

Thanks for the info. I send them a message as their webpage does state no international shipment.
Hope they reconsider...

To confirm it is the strut I loosened the Air hose connection. Some remaining low pressure escapes the loosened hose...that should close out any damaged hose.
Then I started the car.
It directly wants to rise up the car....and Air is escaping through the loosened Air hose connetor.
I believe this determines 100% that the strut is the issue!
Anybody disagree? Do I miss something?

Definitely recommend Arnott, used their struts on two of my MB's. They have a fast ship/core replacement, and offer a discount to MBWorld members.

Need some help!
I found a dealer in US for Arnott struts and able to send to Hong Kong.
Now it seems there were W219 CLS 63 AMG with ...and without sport suspension!?
Can someone help me clarifiying?
I have the version where you can change settings from normal to sport1 and sport 2 (Close to automatic shifter).
Is this not standard on the CLS 63 AMG models?

Finally Arnott offered that they will help out if I send (done today) my strut to them so that they remanufacture my original part.
OK, 2 more weeks no car but at least I should get a good product for a reasonable price.

I called the local stealer...just to see what they ask for...and it was no fun. quite a shock 33000HK$ what is about 4250US$ !!!!! Holy moly!

Next year I will use some holiday break to do the second front strut as well. Then stays only the two rear ones...but that is a bigger job as I saw on their webpage.

And, not sure if it is funny, but taking down the wheel to remove the strut ...look what was sticking there in my new tire...a nail...like somebody wanted to tell me something with the break down of the strut

Luckily I still didn't buy any big wheels or spacers...as the blown strut just showed me that with anything else than OEM I would sure not move my car a meter.

Just to close the thread...
Arnott remanufactured strut arrived and directly installed.
Car is back to normal and I cannot feel any difference. Thanks to Arnott for helping out!

In order to install the new strut what comes pumped up (extracted), I just connected the upper plug, hooked out the sensor link and simulated a wrong positioning.
The car then released air so that the strut retracted.
Additional I removed the swaybar and after that it was no problem to get the strut in place.
