I think I ll have golden CLS with beige interior and that "red" matte wood, which I dont like. Black piano is perfect, but I want to make fully carbonised interior as on 63 AMG.

Love it. So, what I want to say, keep this thread alive, I will use it as an instruction X-PIPE is must have. What do you think about ECU upgrade?
Thanks

Great that you like my taste. I will keep the thread alive, my next mod will be to paint my grille. It has to much chrome at the moment.

Carbon fibre is really nice, but since I have piano I leave it as it is.

My ECU and SC-pulley upgrade was great. It was not a huge power difference, but noticeable. But the throttle response was much much better after the upgrade.

Best of luck with your purchase of a CLS 55

.. I 've been many times on the point of buying an S/C pulleybut I'm a bit worried about easier belt slippage and reliability of that aftermarket pulley.
Hom many Km did you do with that pulley already, and what about slippage, compared to the stock one ?

ps:
one other thing I 've been thinking at many times is the headlights painting. I studied different versions but in the end did not get convinced .
Must say that yours are nice, but should see in person.

Lately I 'm often thinking at some mods to the front bumper .
Usually I end up saying that it hasn't much sense to change the car's own identity, also Not sure. gathering options for the moment..

I'm enough satisfied with my front carbon grille (besides the standard full carbon option inside-out)

I have just done like 2000km with it. It is a nice mod. But how can you measure slippage? I do not feel any difference in behavior of the engine after the new SC-pulley.

The darker headlights looks much nicer than those stock ones. Will get my grille back from the paintshop tomorrow. They have done a layer of matt clear over the chrome bits. So now it should be like a satin finish.

When it comes to the Koenigsegg wheel, they are nice. Those wheels you show at the picture, is the same that we have at our wheel/tire storage.
That`s cool that you have them I asume that your CLS don`t have centre bolt

Took a picure of one of them:

nice tires, I like that big outer edge ! which Michelin are those ?
.. no, mines are 9-spokes and not with center bolt

indeed, when I ordered them I was asked for that option but decided it wouldn't have been comfortable for me.

Also my fabricator/brake specialist even last saturday was offering me to fit the center bolt kit .. they make a lot of those with custom design because they fabricate special parts for Lambo's race editions and for various race teams .. but to date I'm not in love with that thing ..

bad pic but you can see center bolt kits here

SC pulley: you "do not feel any difference in behavior" you mean in performance ?
about Slippage, besides hearing it, somebody says that you can detect by watching if black powder grows under the engine cover, just above the SC pulley ..

- layer of matt clear over the chrome bits: I was just thinking today whether to black the chrome ring of fog lights or not and was wondering what kind of technique better to use .. but was not sure about using some paint.
report how your grill came out !

About time for a little update on my CLS

I have allready changed my grille, but after I blacked out my headlight, the chrome bits was to much.

So I got an idea of painting the chrome with matt clear coat. The paintshop sanded and painted it to perfection And it turned out really good. It got a satin look

So here`s before:

I have for a long time struggled to be satisfied with my front radiator grille on my CLS 55. So after a tryout of 4 different grilles, with more or less satisfaction. I tried the one that doen`t fit preface CLS. The 2009 Facelift grille

This is how it will look like if you try fitting it directly to a preface CLS

These grilles are in my collection

What you need:
-A original 2009 facelift grille
-A replica single frame grille that fits 2005-2008
-Cutting and grinding tools
-Plastic glue

This is the grille I want to use for fitment to the preface

And then we have the facelift AMG grille. I was lucky enough to get a damaged facelift grille for little money You don`t need the mountings or upper and lower mesh grilles to do this mod:

My 2006 CLS 55 AMG from Norway-20140811_190258_zps8au1lsfd.jpg

Started with grinding away the mount for the mesh on the facelift grille:

Then you cut the mesh away until it looks like this:

This is the single frame grille cutted out to look like this:

Then when you have test fitted and cutted/grinded enough, you can start gluing the facelift grille inside the single frame grille. But glue it in with the single frame grille attached to the car (for correct fitment):

Heres your new facelift grille I got the paintshop to spray a layer of matt clearcoat to the chrome frames before installing it to the car. You get a satin look with this mod.
