cls55 oil change

just completed first oil change after purchasing vehicle. As per owners manual, installed exactly 9.0 quarts with filter. Drove car home and checked dash readout after shutting off engine. "Reduce oil level" message indicated. Drained approx one quart and oil level now "ok". After adding 1/4 of a quart, the readout still shows "ok". In the future, should i just disregard the readout and install the recommended 9.0 quarts or what?

Did you drain the old oil from the two drain bolts? There is two oil drain bolts for the CLS. If you fail to drain from the second drain bolt, you will be leaving roughly a quart to a quart and a half of oil in the second oil sump. This may be why you are receiving the message; you may be adding 9 quarts when the car already has a little bit more than quart in it, resulting in 10.5 quarts or even possibly more.

I'd also like to know about this

I just changed my oil and even if the car sits overnight on my flat garage floor, I see this on the display. So what does mean? Is it even working?

After an oil change. So do I add? Is it working?

EDITED -- Here's the straight scoop on checking your oil level. It's so much easier than the other threads' list:

1. Let car sit (engine off), on a flat surface for 10+ minutes
2. Put key in and set display for temperature
3. Turn key to first position and see battery voltage
4. scroll with down arrows to see the above picture
5. Turn key one more position to #2 (just befoer starting)
6. Oil level will calculate and you can read the progress

That's it.

Go to wwwStarTekInfo.com

If STILL problems resetting service indicators on screen:

Go to wwwStarTekInfo.com. Follow the links on this site to service reset.

http://wwwStarTekInfo.com to get the service reset instructions. I searched far & wide until I just called Mercedes-Benz USA and asked them - "where's the instructions to reset Services on screen?" They directed me here. It's free instructions and - it works unlike EVERYTHING else no the web I tried (5-6 different routines) until finally - THIS! Problem solved very clean, DONE.
