Front strut leak and Arnotts not compatible???

CLS55, a rare R-class
Front strut leak and Arnotts not compatible???
So the front left struct went out on me last week. Got an email from mechanic today saying this "it is the left front strut leaking. If you want to change one strut – it will have to be an original unit we cannot mix suspension parts of different designs. I will price the single MB strut for you tomorrow."

I thought the Arnotts are direct replacements??? What does he mean by parts with different designs shouldn't be used? I am mistaken about something here?

Your input will be much appreciated. Thanks!

Contact Arnott directly. That doesn't sound accurate.

i have one arnott on front passenger side. it shouldn't be an issue
