engine swap DIY
Need to swap the engine. Thinking about doing it myself. What's everyone's experience with that kind of project? What to look out for and what to remember. Every bit of information is appreciated. Wasn't able to find a complete DIY here, so maybe with everyone's help I will make a good DIY with lots of pictures. Hoping to get lots of response.

You don't tell us your experience with engines. Have you ever done a transplant before? If not this car is not the car to cut your teeth on. If you have serious mechanical experience it's still going to be a formidable task. You need to look at as many engine removal replacements as possible. The key is whether YOU feel you can do it. Once you start you will either have to complete it or be prepared to spend significant dollars to have someone else finish what you started. Not meaning to scare you away but I've done a few and they are time consuming, cost money (once the engine is out a whole host of items become very easy to change and should be changed like motor mounts) and can't be rushed or you will have serious issues. Thanks for the input. I am hoping to get help of a professional. Was mostly worried about specific issues or tricks that some one had experienced. It's a direct swap, plug and play more or less. But since I haven't done nothing like that I am unaware if there is any surprises that I can't even think of. Anyone on here that has done engine replacement on cls or e class amg? Or similar?

Anytime you're doing engine swap out, there's always going to be some kind of surprises. I've done about 6 swap out and transplant total on various cars and there were surprises with each one. It's hard to list all of the possibilities as each car will be different. If you've never done one and don't feel confident doing one, I highly suggest you leave it to the professional.
