SC Clutch Problem?

Has anyone had a super charger clutch go bad? If so, can you describe what you experienced? I have a major power loss. My dyno looks like a normally aspirated V8 engine. My IC pump is testing out fine and the IATs are normal for stock. I'm at the point where I don't know where else to turn. Any and all advice/input is much appreciated.

Should be able to tell if the super charger clutch is engaged by looking at it if you're running the car on a dyno.

Thanks for trying to help. Not sure how to check this on a super charger. Would it show up on an OBD scanner for the CLS55?

yes look for MAP reading. It will be very high since the barometric pressure is added. You will have the subtract that from the reading to get the boost.

Looks like IAT's are too high. Check your pump again. Also if you're logging through OBD port, no more than 2 at a time. If that is wideband then never mind.
Timing starts backing off at 95*F. Supercharger shuts down around 150 something.

Thank you both!

I'll replace the IC pump on Monday. I'll keep you informed.

Quick question- I know fluid is running through it. You think it is just not working properly, or does that change your opinions?

Mate I am tagging along for this one. I have the same issue. I had a bosch 010 pump on before and replaced it thinking the pump was bad with a new 010 pump. Was told to bleed the system, did that with a mate however has made no difference.. Have given up on the issue. Cruising around iat temps are fine then do one run and iat's get crazy hot.. Have put the car on dyno twice but it's no use. Get pathetic numbers as ecu just shuts things down with the high temps. Am interested to see if you get yours right.

I'd look for a bad pump. If the temps are fine "around town" but one run makes it crazy hot then the pump is failing. Sometimes brand new pumps will fail. Remember it's not necessarily an electrical failure but a pump ( impeller ) failure. While both are bolted together they are two distinct mechanisms. Check the cfm as that is a truer indicator but it requires knowing the number and then removing the pump and testing it using water and a bucket. Good luck.

OK, replaced the SC clutch and the IC pump. There seems to be an increase in power. Interestingly, the ambient temps have fallen off with the fall weather so it is impossible to know for sure what the real fix might have been (if there was a fix). I will have it on the dyno again on Monday and post the results.
