CLS55 muffler delete

hey guys, i have a cls55 with a secondary cat delete replaced with an x pipe and a resonator delete replaced with straight pipes. its definitely louder under WOT but the car is still quiet imo. There is zero drone and sounds pretty much like stock when you are cruising. I was wondering if a muffler delete is a good idea or will that make it drone like crazy.

AMG does such a great job engineering these cars

....that I would think twice before carving up the exhaust. I like the stock sound where it's quiet cruising but is tuned and throaty on the gas. If you take out the mufflers all together it will definitely be louder but you might lose some power along the way. Engineers tune a car like this for the most power with the best/most appealing sound. A replacement exhaust from a vendor may make more power and be louder -- that might be a better idea. Just sayin.

You wont lose any power with a muffler delete.

If you're curious to how it sounds just cut them off and if you dont like it have them welded back on. That said, personally I cut my mufflers open and pulled out all the sound deadening and welded them back together. Did the same thing with the factory resonator (big secret here but its just two straight pipes surrounded by sound deadening). As far as I'm concerned the car sounds perfect for my tastes at the moment.

Have you still got stock headers after all that? My car in the shop now, getting full custom exhaust. Can't wait to hear the sound. But I am keeping the stock mufflers in place.
