Cls55 amg

Hey guys it's been a while since I've posted. Been about 4 to 5 good months with my new Mercedes cls55 amg. Was wondering if anybody can shed some light on what I've experienced with this beautiful machine. Today as I was coming home. I was parking my vehicle in my garage when I noticed a high pitched noise coming from the engine bay. seemed like it was coming from The drivers side front area sounded like some sort of electrical pump of some sort don't know what lies in that area. But what ever it was failed on me because I herd it struggle to keep going almost like a dying starter would sounded like chur chur chur chur then it stopped as that happened some smoke started to arise from the engine bay. (Note) a day before this happened (yesterday) I accidentally left my parking lights on all night when I realized this I thought I would have to jump the car but it was all OK it started up just fine no problems.anybody with some info would be much appreciated before I head out to the stealership!! (Don't have that kind of money right now!!!) Oo also the smell that is a s coming from the engine compartment is almost like a rubber burning smell

There is an air injection pump for startup emissions, and down low is the compressor for the suspension.
What is the car doing or not doing?

I have not checked the car since yesterday. When I arrived home it was pretty late and I had been drinking so I was in no condition to notice any differences lol. I will take a look at it today in the afternoon. Also I wanted to say thank you for your reply you have helped me a lot with just a couple of your sentences

So I just came back from the car I checked looked at the fuses located in the driver's side dash board area shined a flash light and the fuses looked Ok.. Looked in the trunk at the fuses and they also looked Ok.. I don't know what those bigger square looking relays do.. Or how to check if there bad.. The fuse diagram did not tell me what they do unfortunately. After that I checked my cluster to see if there is any malfunction errors. I did not find any so I started her up sounded fine no funny noises. I raised the ride height and it raised up no problem (does that mean the air compressor is OK) I lowerd her back down let her warm up and took her for a spin everything was fine supercharger kicked in no power drop at all that I can notice (went for a 5-7 min drive) I'm confused

Try a search on the e55 forum for the relay location. It has been talked to death over there.
It might be the one under the hood in the back corner closest to the drivers side door.
My money is on the air injection pump. If I remember right, there is one for an Audi that is the same bosch part, but saves you the Mercedes tax.

In that case, Start the car, hit the raise button, turn the car off before it rises up and stand next to the D/S fender and listen while it finishes the cycle. Is that the noise you heard?
The dealer will probably find something for you to replace whether you need it or not.

Also I wanted to say that I am confused on where it is located so far I have found three areas where there are fuses and relays.. One in the trunk compartment area one in the dash on the driver's side door and another one under the hood near the driver's side... I also have seen some forms saying there's some more under the pass side floor area

The air pump is located behind the front bumper on the driver side. To the right of the heat exchanger under the bumper beam. If you can take your bumper off its very easy to replace, You probably could even get at it with the under carriage off on the front.

Sorry I can't tell you where the fuse/relay is.

Find someone who can diagnose it properly before you start throwing parts at it. That someone will come in handy down the road. This car will get very expensive if you have to take it to the dealer for everything.

That's true dealers will make you spend a lot if you have to keep going to them and unless your made of money take alott out. (Even if they are easy repairs) finding someone who can diagnose my vehicle properly on the other hand is a bit difficult.when i was inspecting it before purchase The first Mercedes Benz "specialist" I took it to said my car was perfect very good condition he did say the valve covers where starting to leak but very minor leak more of a sweat. A month later I decided to take a look underneath my vehicle so itook off the skid plate and the first thing I see is that my oil pan drain plug is leaking!! find someone who is knowledgeable and trust worthy is hard to find where I live. Also there are not many mb specialists here

yeah that makes sense where it should be. If you have a new one just match up the part numbers if the relay has one on it to the one in the fuse box

(Update) so I took the car into mb and had it diagnosed. They said the air injection pump needed to be replaced.... (As we suspected) and they replaced the relay while the car was there I had them do an oil change (service a) wow expensive!! Anyways as they where checking the are they found a couple of others issues they said my cooling fan needed to be replaced and they also said they found a crack in my supercharger pulley/clutch. My cooking fan is still working for now so I'm not to worried about that but I am about that pulley. Turns out it's a very expensive part... Don't know where to get it at a decent price if anybody knows it will be appreciated!! My pockets are starting to run dry lol here's a pic

Most people replace them with a smaller one, so you should be able to get a stock one cheap. You could get a pulley and tune for more power. Call Eurocharged. Don't run it like it is! Look up the thread "supercharger pulley destroyed my car" on the E55 forum.

Yea it's been sitting in my garage for the past week or so.. Saw the threads wow it sucks when that happens I'm glad I caught it before anything bad happened. I also came across a thread where eurocharged pulleys where also cracking so I'm being cautious on that front. I'm not looking for power gains yet it's my daily so I need it to be reliable maybe in the future a tune but not yet. I've been looking online and I am unable to find a pulley for under 900$ every one I see is 1000$ and up

I happen to have a spare one. Needs a new Nachi bearing, but those are $50 bucks on ebay.

There is a sticky thread on the e55 forum of common maintenance parts. The correct smog pump is $176 and I pay about $60 for a Mann filter and 10 qrts of mobile 1 0-40. How does that compare to what the dealer charged to do it for you?
