Tyre roasting
I think I need a LSD in my CLS63, I'm new to cars with over 300bhp and the squirming and sidewinding is something I've not had much of before, at a standing start, if I go more than 1/4 throttle (eased on, not slammed), I get the rear tyres lighting up, and from a rolling start of around 20-30, if I poke to in excess of half-3/4 throttle I get the same, it's not unmanageable or alarming, I would just rather be able to plant all 500+ of those horses onto the road without planting 1mm of rubber with it. anyone had an LSD fitted? Am I just driving it wrong?

CLS63s with P30 have an LSD but I guess that is too late to be an option now, but that would have been cheaper.
For me (with LSD) I can go full throttle from rolling without ESP intervention.
It sounds like you have excessive slip even for a non LSD car, are you running summer tires in good condition?
Btw if you retrofit an OEM style LSD you also need to retrofit pressure monitoring to the tires as the LSD will disintegrate if the car runs with a pressure differential in very few miles.

2016 CLS63s AMG
I have the same thing from start, if I push it over 1/3 throttle, ESP triggers. I think its normal as I have PSS summer in a good condition.
However, from rolling, I can pedal to the metal with no intervention from the ESP at all.
so I think your car is normal. keep in mind that ALL CLS63 have an LSD, however, the P30 package have a different LSD that is more stable. Overall, You only need to get used to it. keep in mind 507HP are no little pony!

Thanks for the replies, I have michelin all round, they're maybe half worn, would you suggest a different brand for the next ones? I do get slight road noise also but not as bad as some of the reports I've heard when people run things with a V pattern on theirs.

To clarify only P30 cars come with an LSD. "Regular" amgs or p31 cars do not have an lsd unless specifically ordered.
The SL has LSD in more variants.
Are those Michelin summer tires? Bad alignments can lead to excessive slip but not common.

first post, long time owner. I had the exact same problem with my non LSD equipped cls 63. After alot of research I had Renntech install the OS Giken limited rear slip, and the car was tranformed. I've done a fair amount of modifications to the car, but this was hands down the most transformative thing I've done. It felt like a different car.
