C55 to CLS63.

Hello all,

New-ish around here but no stranger. I've appreciated the help during my C55 ownership. That was a great car, but I started getting the itch for something else with a bit more room. Much like I had forgotten about the C55 when I was looking, I had forgotten how much I loved the design of the CLS.

So I went hunting and found a nice example with only 57K miles. The car is well sorted and looks and drives great. The power and smoothness of delivery is ridiculous. I've had the car about a week and had noticed in Sport mode, that the transmission would not go into 1st gear. Reading here, I learned of the TCU reflash and had my dealer perform this at no cost. Problem solved.

Today did some preemptive maintenance and had the trans flushed as well as brakes. Dealer is also ordering new control arms to replace those under their warranty as well. Looking forward to that as well. The C55was great and largely trouble free at 125k miles but I have no regrets! On to the pics. Not really a fan of the chrome wheels but I can sort that out later.

Nice color choice (I'm bias)! Congrats & welcome to this side! Any mods you're considering? Whether performance or visual..

Thanks Flo1989! Was also looking at a black one with the chrome but that combo just didn't sit well with me personally. For mods, not really sure what's out there. Knew more about the mods for the 55. I would like it to sound a bit more authoritative though. New exhaust would do it for sure but is there any value in removing the resonators on this car?

I have a cls55 so I can't say for certain the sound difference you will experience with the 63, however, I'm sure it would be similar results in regards to opening up the exhaust some. I originally did the resonator and secondary cat removal & that really improved the sound. That held me over for a year until I decided to go louder with headers. I can imagine that most would be content with just the cats and resonator removed though. And as cheap as this mod can be, it's almost hard to not give it a shot..

I would have to agree. May just give it a go.
