CLS55 Reliability
Hey guys,
I'm a somewhat recent owner of an E55 and I love this thing. Mostly I am impressed with the level of factory performance and reliability.
Now, the W219 is some of my favorite body shapes ever and it got me to thinking, what if I were to own one at some point?
How is the reliability on these things?
Air suspension is a known one, I take it. Coilover conversions available?

Yes its all basically the same mate. We can get coilovers from most e55 manufacturers. There are few parts that differ from e55, mainly in the interior, exterior, we have the updated rack and some diff suspension parts, i think.. But honestly i spend a lot of time on e55 forum coz its more active and havent found much diff..

I have both... 06 E55 for 9 years and CLS55 for 3 years. In the past 3 years, I only oil change, air filter change and nothing more.
I need to replace my rear tires and alignment very soon. Very basic maintenance. It handle better than my E55 with Coil-over....
My E55 is faster since got pulley, header and tune. The over CLS is very reliable and good looking car. Much more masculine look.
I got more compliment in my CLS (with CF front lip) than E55 with E63 conversion and rear CF diffuser. However it got 2 MPG less than the E55.
I was thinking selling it or trade for 05/06 SL55 but could not even sell at $16k with 98K so decide to keep it.

Got mine with 60k on it. The car has some quirks mostly electrical but the engine and trans are bulletproof. Had S class and while i miss the roominess the cls styling and power is a fair trade off. Just wish i didnt have to sit down and spin into the vehicle. Miss just getting into the S class. Car does turn lots of heads.
