Potentially buying W219 CLS55 or CLS63 AMG, and had some questions

So... long time lurker here, I'm mostly a CLK guy but might be looking at buying a used CLS55 / CLS63 AMG.

Here are my questions:
1. Is there a big difference between a 2006 and 2008 versions?
2. If you could choose between a high mileage 2008 (around 120k miles) cs relatively low mileage 2006 (around 60k miles), which would you choose, assuming both seem to be well cared for?
3. What's the longevity of the W219 class like, are there any major pitfalls I should be aware of? The car will be a weekend warrior for going on long drives and road trips, I also have a DD that is very robust (CLK350), and all I ever have to do is get an oil change every 6 months or so.
4. Any other opinions about the CLS class would be greatly appreciated

Hey mate, well I am very biased so I will side with the CLS55 motor instead of the 63, way more performance mods and Power to be had out of the motor than the massive expense of buying a whole supercharger for the 63, that's of course if you wanting to mod her in the long run.
Regarding major pitfalls, the air suspension is a major costly one when air struts go. But that is not only particular to the cls platform, it's across the range. Good luck in your decision, sounds like tough one, but enjoy the experience of it all!

You never can tell just how the car was treated with that mileage on it. If I was in your shoes, I'd look at the cost for a extended warranty. There are many to choose from but these cars can get very very expensive to fix. I bought mine used, but mine only had 40k on it and I still bought a extended warranty. Good luck bro...

Thanks for the replies, I don't think I can get extended warranty in my country, but from what research I've done, it seems like the engine/tranny for the W219 are bulletproof. I will of course do my due diligence before buying, but I'm glad these cars aren't potentially as big of a money pit as some other German rival brands. It also seems we can switch the air suspension to coils from the E class, which seems like an easy fix. Funny thing is in my mind I'm already a CLS owner lol... these cars are so beautifully designed I'm just thankful I can afford one (albeit used) now =)
