Maybe so, but I don't think the car would make as much power at the top end without the larger throttlebody. If you look at my dyno and most of the other dyno's posted, mine is making power almost all the way to redline with no roll off. There are significant gains in area under the torque curve across almost the whole power band as well.
That being said, I may end up going down to an 80mm throttle body if I can't find a solution for the occasional P0505 and P0106 codes that seem to plague the 82mm throttle body.

No not yet, fingers crossed I might know more soon though. I've gone through 3 82mm throttle bodies at this point. If I were to do it all over I would maybe have started with as new a throttle body as possible vs the used route.

Picked up the car Friday after over 5 months in the shop. Eurocharged ATX was super helpful in working with the vendors to exchange throttle bodies since the first two were no good. First 82mm throttle body was throwing P0106 and P0303 codes. Second one was dead on arrival and the car wouldn't even run with it. The 3rd one seems to be working so far but then they ran into an issue with the evap sensor not showing ready so I could pass emissions. They ended up trying file after file updating the ME and finally got it working. They put about 200 miles on the car before letting me pick it up and I've been trying to put extra miles on it including lots of 70-80 mph cruising and light throttle inputs trying to trigger the P0106 and hiccup. I'll keep updating this thread but at this point for for folks with 82mm throttle body issues the problem could be in the used throttle body.

Quick update:
I had some time this weekend to work on polishing the headlights on the CLS. I used the Sylvania Headlight Restoration kit which comes with 400, 1000, and 2000 grit sand paper. I also picked up some additional 3000 grit sand paper as well. The results were pretty amazing, the lights look damn near new. The only thing I messed up on was the UV coat on the passenger side light where I got some streaks due to trying to reapply some additional coating. I'll need to sand that down and redo that light now.

Well literally 1 year to the day and my alternator needed to be replaced again. Fortunately Mercedes warrantied the work so I didn't have to pay. I did end up replacing the aux battery in the engine bay as a battery test was showing it was weak.

Nothing much new other than replacing the brake pads and rotors in all four corners. Also received a new tune from Jerry to (crosses fingers) address the intermittent P0106 code from the 82mm throttle body.

I sure did, P0505 and P0106 codes early on, 3 different throttlebodies, 2 tunes. The latest tune seems to be doing a little better but I'm still evaluating it. Would I recommend doing a 82mm throttle body? No. There is still a lot of debate on what causes these odd issues (specifically the P0106) and there hasn't been any definitive fix for it. Some folks are lucky others are not, most of the folks that were doing a bunch of research don't seem to be on the board anymore. I'd be curious if the new billet snouts and 90mm+ throttle bodies might fix things but at this point I'm pretty much compete with where I wanted to get my car power wise. I've got some small issues left before I feel like the car is where I feel it is done.
On a side now I did get a few runs in with a '12 911 Turbo S. At a 70 mph roll he could not pull away and I was very slowly reeling him in. From a stoplight he got 2 cars on the launch but then I was able to hold him and start to catch up. I'm not good at launches and had lots of wheelspin with the traction control light flashing.

Still running through tune issues with the 82mm throttle body but putting testing it out for now until I can get all my emission monitors to go to ready so I can get the car inspected. Everything looks good except the EVAP which I just cannot get to go to ready. I'm adding some documents that I found for my own future reference. They are both information on how to complete the drive cycles to get the monitors ready.

Picked up the car from some preventative maintenance added to the first post in this thread as well as a retune to get my LTFTs in check. Now time to put some miles on the car to shake down the brand new 82mm throttle body. This would be throttle body #4 trying to address the hicccup.

Well after spending so damn much money on the 82mm upgrade, I feel like i have to throw in the towel. Even with the brand new TB retune etc, I'm still getting the damn hiccup and P0106 error code (5 times this weekend). At this point I'll be switching back to the stock 74mm throttle body and seeing if I still have an issue before giving the 80mm a shot in the future. At this point I just want the car to be reliable again.

Going larger also means removing the supercharger, putting on another snout, and adding the TB which the odds are against actually fixing the issue which means another several thousand dollars down the tubes.

I had a 2004 911 40th anniversary which was a blast! Miss that car! Still have an 83' 944 with Callaway turbocharger conversion semi track use car.
