Battery Trickle Charge

Newbie Question-
Just picked up a 2007 CLS63 here in Houston and it will be a weekend car (only had 27K miles) and couldn't pass on it.
I noticed that there is not a battery jump point under the hood so I am assuming I will just hook the C-Tech MXS 5.0 straight to the battery in the trunk? I only ask because I am reading a lot of information about the electrical system and how finicky they seem to be.
Thanks for the assist.

Not a CLS owner, but my 2007 M6 had no issues with me hooking a trickle charger up to the battery (also in the trunk, and a VERY finicky electrical system).

PapaChop83 interesting, my 07 E60 M5 has a jump point in the engine bay that allows me to trickle charge from there. I just assumes the CLS63 would have one as well.

I have a 2011 W219, so I’m guessing our battery situation is about the same. I’d recommend attaching a smart charger with the quick-connect wiring, directly to the battery terminals. Then, you’re not going through any vehicle wiring to get juice into the battery. The smart charger then reads the state of the battery much more accurately.

I bought a CTEK charger off Amazon for under $70. Well worth it!

Then, make a sticky to put on your driver’s side window that says “Disconnect Charger!”

I just made sure to leave the trunk open with my M6 - pretty good reminder.

I have a 2012 cls63 Amg and I have a battery tender on it before I don’t drive it much but my auxiliary battery died still. Any suggestions?

The float/trickle will only charge the main battery not the auxiliary. While the main battery has some drain on it constantly, the aux should not. That is why a float/trickle charge is need for the main. If the aux is dead you either have a bad battery and needs to be replaced or something that is tied to that battery is not working properly and causing it to constantly draw on it. If it were me, I would install a new aux battery and then confirm whether any draw is occuring on it when the car is off and in sleep mode. Good luck.

Same, just replaced mine today as I didnt trust it (as the previous owner said he changed it, but it doesnt seem like it). They are about 40 euro in the NL for a reputable brand (Exide).
