63 paddels in 55?

Im looking at the possibility to put 63 paddels in cls 55 and have a question. Some people says that if 55 55 is MY 2005 and above you do not need to switch over the electronics to the paddels, its just plug and play but you still have to dremel to make them fit. Is this correct?

I used a wheel from clk myself, but the electronics were the same.

You do need to modify the old wheel if you plan to use the new Paddles

Hi,

Beside the modification that needs to be done to your current steering to fit the 63 Paddleshifters, they are all plug and play!

I have done it to my CLS55, I ordered CLS63 paddleshifters from MB dealer and they work fantastic.

I did not have to modify my steering wheel as I swaped it with the steering wheel of my Facelifted CLK W209.

Hope this helps

Thank you very much for the info. I'm thinking i'm going to buy a extra steering wheel so i don't have to modify my oem since it's like new. Anyone know a good site in Europe where you can buy a custom wheel without core exchange?

Hi,

I strongly suggest you to buy one OEM used on ebay or somewhere. Here is the part number google it A2094603303. As you can see on the picture those steering wheels have black little paddle shifters, you just need to replace them with 63 AMG aluminium shifters (thats what I have done and its super easy it will take maximum 10/15 min for the whole job).

The steering is a direct swap as its the exact same as the W219 CLS55. No wiring alteration... plug and play! You will need to remove two screws from behind in order to get the airbag out and then remove the main bolt that holds the steering thats it.
