Running light control

Sorry if this is a silly question, but is there a way to turn off the front running lights without unplugging them? I guess what I'm asking is there a separate control to turn them off and on with out turning your other lights off.? For example I can turn on my headlights and they not come on....

I'm not a 100% sure if this affect the drl but go in to settings on your instrument cluster and choose full headlight circuit off. Otherwise im thinking that you need star.

But they don't run all the time like regular DRL lights, these come on with my park lights, and I have OEM HID's. I've seen other CLS's with their HID's on without that running light, but I don't know if they were unplugged or turned off... I'll try that though..

Ah, i understand. I thought you would like everything off. The full circuit off should turn off all lights and you have to turn the them on manually.

That sound like you need star to code them differently.

Yeah, I don't mind them being on sometimes, but I think the HID's look better without the yellowish small bulbs on...

Yeah, I looked in the menu under lights and didn't find anything. That menu was more for setting timing delay for headlights, they had surround lighting setting, I don't know what that was for.. After setting it to off and back on, I didn't see any difference... I know my year (2011) is slightly different then some of the older CLS's. For example, my turning lights in my side mirrors don't turn on unless it's dark and the sensors see it's dark. Same with my door lights, when I had the Benz projectors installed that shine on the ground. They only come on when it's dark, in which I like that feature for those lights... lol But I thought my mirror lights where not working, and I told myself I'd take it back to the dealer the next day, but that night I was out and noticed they were working... My buddy that has a W219 2007 his lights come on without that sensor, and the running lights in the headlight housing I originally spoke about, I think his is burnt out and he never replaced them...

My 2005 cls 55 works just like yours. There should be menus for interior and exterior lightning, and ambient light. On my car the full circuit menu is a separate menu when you move left/right, it's not in the settings menu. Maybe someone programmed it in my car so you would get the ability to run with no lights on. Most cars sold new in sweden have drl allways on as default.

Yeah, I'll probably leave it as is. I saw all the stuff you mentioned in those menus...

I wonder if I could wire those running lights to a switch. Then I can turn them on or off anytime I want...

you can replace those small bulbs with T10 LED canbus bulbs to match the color of your HID.
