Cls55 AMG alternator voltage regulator

Hi group, has anyone done th3 voltage regulator replacement on the back of the alternator on the Cls55 platform. I see on the E55 amg you can do it with the alternator still on the car. Wanting to kkow if the same applies to the Cls55, or is it a much bigger job and need the alternator removed? Thanks in advance

What issues were you having? You should of replace the whole alternator. I ended up replacing just regulator, but still was slightly having some issue under WOT. Under wot, i would get a battery light and disappear after a short while. Driving under normal condition didnt trigger the light.

Got the sad news today that it wasn't the regulator but apparently the whole alternator is fried.. So have had to order a replacement bosch unit. I have had the convenience battery warning for month after starting the car first thing when let her standing for a week at a time, however when I took her in to get checked they said the battery was fine but replaced the rear main battery.. Then on my datalogging I noticed all of a sudden one day about a week or so ago my voltage was down and not get recharged after starting, so I new the charging system was going on the blink. Managed to limp her to the shop today to get the regulator swapped out and monitoring the voltage on the drive there when it dipped to about 10.5volts I got the red stop car battery/alternator message which was round the corner from the shop.. Oh well now the dreaded wait for the new alternator the cross the waters to southern Africa.
