2012 CLS
Letter of intent sent and deposit paid!

One picture was enough for me!

The successor to my W211 E class will be a CLS, although "only" a 320cdi.

Base price $60,000. proces to be confirmed.

I have sent a letter of intent to the dealership with $1500 deposit. Fully returnable if price/spec not to my liking - and delivery expected June 05.

This letter of intent gets you on the list - whyich is useful as the new SLK already has an 18 month waiting liist in the UK!

Now need to sit and wait for the roadtests, and options.

Congratulations! It's nice to find another diesel Benz enthusiast on the boards, we also have an E270CDi (Dad's). The list price of $60k seems pretty good, I would have expected a lot more given the S320Cdi costs the equivalent of $90k in the UK.... still no doubt the cost of the options will push the price up some! I doubt you'll be disappointed with the 320CDi, that thing has all the torque of a V8 and it'll still return 35mpg all day.

PS: There's a good feature on the CLS in this weeks Autocar (Uk and Ireland), you've probably seen it but if not have a look!

Hi Irishman, It was the Autocar article that did it!

I love the E270 and would have had a E320 cdi but they were not available when I ordered the E class. I did the same with the E. Saw a picture on the web and bang - ordered it.

It sounds flashy but actually I know what I like, and we seem surrounded by so many drab cars that the E was different.

I feel exactly the same way about the CLS. To me it will have as much "presence" as the new Bentley, but at a much reduced cost.
