Changed engine mounts. Way smoother

I just swapped out my trans & engine mount over the Stay@home weekend. Car is way more smoother and quiet now. I used the dropping the 4 bolt on the steering rack method.
This youtube video explain the proccess.

The most challenging part of the job was to align the new engine mount and get the top bolt and shield threaded in the mount.
Took me about 1.5 hour to finish the job with my son's help to manage the jack. I used Lemforder mounts from FCP euro..

I changed out mine and the transmission mount in my CLS500 a few months ago. Used Lemforder as well. Runs like a new car.

The method made it very easy. These cars are known to break the engine mounts. I was taking a buddy for a ride and my drivers side mount snapped as I got on it.

I will say though you may need an alignment if you are going to open the rack and pinion.

That’s a good thing. Save $$$ if no need to do alignment.

I paid $530 at an independent in San Diego. I thought about doing it myself but $530 was cheap enough to have someone else do it by the time I bought the engine lift etc.

parts were about $160. Lemforder brand. However my indy service guy use to be more reasonable. now he wanted $800 part and labor. so I tackled it myself. Saved $600 in 2 hours. not a bad days work return..

Got my 2006 CLS55 back today from getting new engine mounts. Feels like a different car. The oil pan was sitting all the way down on the cross-member... I'd say it was ready!
