I have CLS 63 AMG (2007) with M156 engine and it started doing rattling noise on startup. My local workshop determined that it was faulty timing chain tensioner. They changed the tensioner and it seems to have resolved the problem.
During the tensioner change they also measured timing chain stretch and it was 72mm.
Does anyone know how much is stretch on a new timing chain and from what stretch MB recommends changing the chain?
